Well the paint is finally on my 67 xr7 and although its still on the rotisserie, I am beginning the estimated 12 month assembly and planning my engine build.
Every toy I own is either supercharged or turbocharged ( I cant help it )
My desire for this one is the old faithful wieand 174 roots.
My problem is I wonât put a huge hood scoop on it for this so I need to know just how tall these superchargers are and if anyone has seen one on a cougar or mustang of our years? Pics would help.
if I can do it with a small factory style scoop and a motor drop kit I will do it.
I donât want a Paxton supercharger because I will have A/C and P/S so there is no room for a centrifugal supercharger.
Thanks
Eric P
Hey man,
I just looked over at weiandâs site and couldnât find anything on the height. That being said, it would appear that your carb is going to be MUCH higher than the conventional intake w/ a 4bbl. I would contact Holley/Weiand on their tech support side and get a total, as youâre not going to get away without some sort of scoop. How high, I donât know. But, that big fat torque curve would be SO much fun. Iâd also find a cam with a profile that will take advantage of that boost. A blow through system might be better for that âsleeperâ effect of no scoop, but they donât seem to give you that same immediate feel of a positive displacement blower. And they donât look as cool as a roots style blower with the hood up.
Now Iâm thinking about a blow through system for mine. Thanks AlOT!!! (lol)
yeah.
I may have to go with blow through but for the flat torque curve and the cool factor when you open the hood you cant beat that roots
Yeah, it isnât going to fit under a stock hood.
Thatâs part of why the Paxton system was used on the GT350S Shelby cars. Go with a centrifugal. You can upgrade to some of the throttle body plug and play injection systems and have an easier time with blow through.
Youâll also need an ignition retard and maybe an alky injection system too.
Go with Paxton. Plenty of hood clearance.
