1968 mercury cougar xr7 shift light “diffuser”

In WCCC shift bushing replacement video, he takes apart the console and starts discussing the diffuser he hoped to see but was not currently present.

it’s around the 16 minute mark.

I was so glad he broke it down this far because I didn’t have the housing that held the lamp or the shift rod to slide it on mine.

However the “diffuser” he didn’t see isn’t listed anywhere for an example. For lack of a better term the housing for the shift light is called the diffuser on his store. However it seems it’s not exactly what he is referencing.

Thoughts/help?

Not sure if this is the same video or not; but it’s the one I used. The parts are all laid out @ 2:53 with part #'s @ 9:12 he shows the broken diffuser (blue plastic) and at 13:35 he is putting the new one back on. Hope that helps, and I’m not off base.
