SOLD!!! It just kept calling my name since the hour he posted it. Look for it in the 2019 WCCC calendar.
Amazing car, the price seems quite reasonable. Could not be duplicated for that price.
Don, you got a sweet ride. Royce is correct, one can not duplicate one at that price. Congratulations on the sale Elaine and Jim.
Congratulations, Don. You got yourself a great car that as Royce said, couldn’t be duplicated for the price.
Congratulations to all involved. Stunning car, a very attractive color combination.
It seemed priced low, Jim said it was priced to sell and that he was hopeful to have it stay in the area.
Glad to see it found a good home.
I bought it with a customer in mind in TX who has a 68 (here in our shop) that he wants to take to the next level. After determining that his original paint could not be revived to the level we wanted, we did the math on what paint, body, vinyl top and trim package would cost. It was not only the $20k but two years of wait time. If it does not go to TX it will not be at all hard to re-home with someone who will cherish it the way the Pinkertons did. We look forward to using it for pictures featuring products we sell and having it appear in the WCCC 2019 calendar. Right now I am contemplating what wheels and tires to put on. Wire caps or 14x6 styled steel wheels?
I think it screams out for the wheels currently on the car to have their centers powder coated white to compliment the white vinyl top.
She’s coming to TX! Fell in love with color combo. And, all the right things have been done. Going with the 14x6 styled steel wheels. Thanks Don for putting this deal together for us. Really looking forward to showing and driving this beauty! Jim Witherow
Jim,
Congratulations on your new Cat!
Being in Texas have you looked into the Lone Star Cougar Club? They have a lot of great Cougar Enthusiasts in your area.
I dig the wheels, I would run em ! send them to me if you scrap em
I hope you can hookup with Lone Star Cougar Club. They work well with Mid America Classic Cougars out of Tulsa. Dan brought his beautiful 68 to the Daryl Starbird show. We hope to put 40+ Cougars in next years. This one would fit right in!!

Love the car. Nordic Blue is a great color. I think it would look better with a black top. But I’d understand wanting to keep it the way it was build, assuming the car is still in concours condition.
For wheels, 14 x 6 styled steel with black outers and brushed chrome trim rings - just the way it would have been in 1968.
Which wheel do you like best? The new owner (also Jim) was having difficulty choosing so I mounted up both yesterday.
I really like the passenger side set. They just look subtly different and sharp!
So far everyone who has seen it except my wife have said the same. She said they were “Too fancy for a stock looking car”. The choices are 10 spoke Shelby inspired GT6 wheel or five spoke Magstar Shelby inspired wheel.
Just pm’d Don that I’m liking the 10 spoke. And, yes, my new Lone Star Cougar Club–and Mid America–friends will be seeing her soon!
Jim
5 spoke
Putting the Magstars on my yellow 68 XR-7. Will be picking it up today with the new kicks and front end alignment.
I have a set here with rubber mounted since Jim has chosen the 10 spokes.
