'67 390 GT exhaust

I am looking for detailed pictures of the exhaust system from the H pipe back, to include the intermediate pipes, resonators, hangers, transverse muffler and tailpipes. Preferably “original production” or even NOS if possible. Please advise via private message, or feel free to call me at Four Two Five, Five Eight Two, One, Zero, Four, Six. Thanks.

Jim

And don’t forget to post them here as well so they will be here for many more to see them in the future!

The 67 Gt is in the lift bay now and can get pictures of the repo system. The original system was all falling apart and I don’t think I kept any of it.

Can someone post a picture of the exhaust out of the assembly manual?

Scott

Scott,
From April 1973 MPC,

Jim and I were hoping to find someone with all or part of their original 1967 dual-exhaust for me to copy to help in the restoration of Jim’s 1967. I know the H-pipe was common between Mustang and Cougar. And I suspect the resonators were shared with Mustang also, although the over axle pipe would be longer. Looking for information on the engineering numbers stamped on the skin of the transverse muffler, and if the tailpipes were one piece, or two piece with a clamp on tip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked with Don Rush? He has a low mile cinnamon frost ‘67 GT that he posts about.

Here’s a few pics I took of that Cinnamon 67 GT’'s exhaust. It had a replacement muffler (free to anyone to pickup) but the rest of the system was original. Had lots of rust holes.

Got a replacement system made up w/ longer tips & 2 1/2" pipe

Minor issue w/ fitment

Thanks Bill.

Jim

Those photos are very helpful. Did you happen to take any photos of the tailpipes?

Scott

I didn’t get the best shots…

Once again Bill, thanks very much; both Scott and I appreciate all the effort.

Jim

Jim, will Scott be starting work on making up systems for 67 390 S code cars ?

I certainly hope so

As always so glad to help!!

Thanks, Bil

I hope to. Would really like some original parts to copy to make it exact. Photos are a great help though. Wondering if Cougars used the same transverse muffler as Mustang or a different engineering number on the body. Mustang is C7ZA-5230-C.

Scott

I located a couple pictures of what was left from my GT. Not as good as Bill’s pictures.

Are the H-pipe and intermediate pipes original? The resonators have been replaced. How about the muffler and tailpipes?

Thanks,

Scott

No thanks, I don’t need any photos of a reproduction system. Just trying to determine what the original assembly line stuff looked like so I can copy it.
