68 G chroming

I have the chroming done, putting some items together, because I’m putting a 427 in it I had some special 7.0 fender emblems made the same shape and size as the original 6.5.

Cool! - is your 427 a vintage block or a newer casting?

And tell us how you had the custom emblems made - 3D printing?

Thanks for posting the pics.

The motor is 69 marine ,it had independent cooling so it’s in nice shape .The emblems are brass aqua cut,all separate pieces brazed and soldered together

Perfect emblem for a 68 R code or a CJ G. You should make and sell a few sets.

With the brass, aqua cutting, machinists and chroming I think they will be to costly,I done some trading so I didn’t have the full cost

I’ve put a request in for pricing to have them made of aluminum, the pieces would be put together with epoxy and painted silver if the numbers work out would there be a desire for them, 6.5 and 7.0

Here is some other items I have done,so far all original but not sure it’s worth it.

Looks great!

What is the status of the body/chassis of your G? Is that being worked on now also?

The car won’t be in the garage until this spring,I’m doing the items that I can,the car will need a whole roof and quarters which I have but no space at the moment.

I’ve always felt original is better, but with the price of some reproduction parts vs the cost of rechroming it’s not an easy decision. I’ll bear the cost for the GTE, but my other cars will get repops.

I got a couple more items done, the tail lights,I did scuff the sides with a red pad also used Sem self etching primer so hopefully it won’t flake off,the vinyl trim I had chromed painted and cleaned off the edges I think it will look better than solid black.

Hello, got the A/C control and vents cleaned up there not perfect but pretty good for 50 years old,I checked the blower switch with an Ohm meter and it didn’t work so I took it apart cleaned and lubricted it,I decided to check the dash toggles and they didn’t work either so took them apart also, they all work now.

Those look good. Expensive if you have to replace or rechrome.

Hello, got the lenses polished, housings painted, and assembled.

Those vents are amazingly good. I haven’t really seen ones that weren’t warped with the lower sections falling out.

Got one more item done.

This is the way to do a great restoration - every part restored until you are happy with that part, then move to the next part. Nice work!

Thanks

Absolutely beautiful work.
