I’ve been looking for a new set of leaf springs on my sagging 68 cougar GT,
But living in France, the WCCC springs are too overpriced with the shipping..
So i’ve been looking at two options and need your opinion:
- these from General Springs
Do these specs match with a C6 390 car, no AC ?
- these sort of coilover shocks to simply replace the stock shocks, without removing the old leaf springs.
(I’ve been told these could break through the floor as this part of the chassis supposedly isn’t designed to hold that much weight)
what do you yall think?

Didn’t we cover the question here?
The GS leafs you cite are lower spring rate than OEM GT springs, but should be fine for street use.
Don’t use coil over springs without an appropriate multi-link kit.
Most people in Europe just use air shocks to control ride height. I have this on my 68 now, and personally do not prefer it.
There must be a truck spring shop somewhere that can recondition old leafs.
