ok, I don’t mean to beat this topic to death, as I know it has been talked about before, but here goes. So a 69 convertible with a 351w, there is no one making reproductions. Does anyone know what the original part # is for the motor mount (not the frame saddlle)? If so what is it, and has anyone done a cross reference search to see it this number matches up to anothernumber? I cannot believe that ford only made the motor mounts for the Cougar convertible, as it was such a limited production number. Next question, does anyone have an original mount that they are willing to sell? It does not need to be a good mount as I just want it to use it to take measurements for other mounts. Thanks
The convertible mounts for your Cougar were also used in Mustang convertible, as well as in the 1966 and 67 Mustang and Cougar hard tops. You can get 68/69/70 hard top frame mounts (frame saddle) and use 68 up motor mounts. Why Ford did this is anybody’s guess.
So don’t beat it to death and search.
thank you for the support and help
still looking for an original to purchase in any condition thanks
what is the original part number?
Out of stock. As only old used ones exist it will be hard to find.
Supposedly the Mustang Barn in PA can modify the aftermarket Anchor 2257 fixed roof car mount to work in convertible applications. No idea on cost, you’ll have to ask them.
A simple solution is to modify your existing frame brackets to accept the 2257 mount.
According to Ford, the motor mount angle change was made to eliminate a vibration found in convertibles.
The last Ford part number available was D0ZZ-6038-B. It was a replacement part used on the 1970 convertibles.
BTW: Don’t try the Scott Drake part - it won’t fit. This company uses Ford part numbers that do not match the original.
These are my USA made anchor motor mounts after 1200 miles. There was no adhesion (however they do it) on the base rubber to the metal, just around the edges.
Get on WCCC wait list for engine stands, it took me about two years to get them.
I currently have O’Reilly purchased mounts made in India. So far so good.
I used small block hardtop pedestals and mounts in my 69 convertible with zero problems.
Me too! I never knew there was any difference until this post showed up.

I also was not aware of the motor mount difference for Convertibles…and, we have past owned (2) each of the 69 & 70 models. I don’t recall having to change motor mounts on any of those Verts. So, I guess the motor mounts that were in service on those Cougars were correct?
Thanks for the info Neal & Vic.
I’ve have both and parted many 69’s. I could very well have one mount from each in both cars. I’m clueless why they would even need to be different…or what the difference could be. Either way, both Coupe and Vert have run fine for over 25 years not knowing there should have been one type for each car.
