70 xr-7 resurrection

Well, off on an another project. I should have let this one fade away, but I just can’t…there aren’t enough cats left around. Think me a fool for saving this one…me too some days. My plan is to take this car on a full Route 66 cruise. Plan is a mild 351w, 5 speed manual. Will update the a/c to 134a with mostly stock components. Likely electric steering. And a color change. I’ll post as I tear into the build

Looks super solid from here, and in much better shape than my 70 standard convertible! That rotisserie is an awesome tool to have for welding the underside of the car!!

Right side inner rocker patch…bracing prep for frame rail extension patch rear frame rail section and torque box

Nice work!!
I was at that stage last year, glad its done its a ton of work!

Rear frame rail section cut out and front of floor support cut out. Now to make backers for proper sectioning…leaving front half of torque box in for stability until rail and support welded back together.

Long night of welding. Frame and floor support reconnected. Backer made, in place, and welded…

Nice work. Not for the faint of heart!

Thanks! It takes lots of patience. You could just get it close and break out the welder, but slow and detailed wins

Agreed, very nice work your doing there!

More progress this afternoon. Welds ground.

Floor support section prepped for welding.
