Today it rolled on to a trailer and went for final painting, nice to see it on wheels and some movement!
fun to see it coming along nice!
Wow you’re motoring along. Lots of work. What brand of paint you going to use?
We are using PPG Deltron
Got body painted, and even though it’s hard to see…it’s a dark green with unreal metallic gold pearl…it really pops in the sun, and is almost black in the dark. we are super happy with this color!
I mounted a winch to garage floor, awesome idea I got from a friend…pulled car off trailer, up driveway and onto lift…so easy! LOL
nice color and good looking shop you have there!
These pictures are hard to see cause of reflection, but this my homemade fiberglass hood…can’t wait to see it on car. We rose the middle so we could put scoops, then put a slight rise over cowl area.
That hood looks fantastic. What was your inspiration? I’m guessing it is modelled on a GT-E??? I can’t wait to see it on the car. Awesome paint, too. I bet it looks even better in the flesh.
Yes, the GT-E, only on a bigger scale with something down the sides. Was afraid it was starting to look like the Dodge Challenger…but folks here tell me not to worry. I can’t wait to see it on car also…Thanks…
Looks very cool! Almost like a modern take on Black Jade. I like the winch on the garage floor. I have a sloped driveway and could use something like that too!
Wow, nice paint!
I had another project for a friend, and finally getting back on my own car.
I got the tail lights apart to restore, chrome grills are out for powder coating blackout, and received some parts from WCCC. As I restore the housing, I used a paint from SEM called Aluminum Chrome, to restore the reflective parts behind the light bulbs. Not sure what other folks use, but this paint looks almost exactly the same as factory…What do other folks use?
On my Top Cat convertible conversion project I used Krylon aluminium spray paint for the interior portion of the taillights. I used the SEM trim black for the blackout of the grilles. Some other folks have powder coated but the results after baking left parts warpped because of the pot metal content that the grilles are made of. Did you have any issues?
Steven
I recall some people using a white paint on the interior reflective area of the taillights. I think a search would bring some hits that explain how it works.
I went gloss white. There is a thread around here that shows the comparison of the silver and gloss white. The gloss white does give off a bit more light shine at night time.
Steven, thanks for the advice, especially the powder coating, will call my guy right now and ask his opinion. I don’t think he got to them yet.
Steve O, I also thought about white, but went for the match instead…white does sound good, I should have asked here first, but still real happy with this look.
I can’t remember how to post pictures
Photobucket wants $400.00 for me to be able to load pictures here…3rd party host capability…is that crazy?
I’ll find another way to upload.
I was using Photobucket but now I cannot…I don’t have a public server. I give up on putting pictures here.
Thanks
