I am no longer a Cougar owner but have been missing the ones I have owned. I really have enjoyed reading all your stories and seeing all the classic Cougars. So I thought I would share My years when I had my Cougar
In the early 80’s I went to the Saint Louis Cougar car show At Noah’s Ark in Saint Charles. If some one know the exact year please post.
here are some photos I took while I was there.
it was a great weekend
and no mine was not in any of these photos, but I did drive it from KC to the show.
Great pix - thanks for posting! I’m wondering how many of those were still original paint cars. Was struck by how different the tires look - fatter sidewalls. Did we run less air pressure back then? Lots of whitewalls, and many different brands - there are so few choices in 14 and 15 inch today.
I remember those shows and have quite a few pictures from there myself. I will try to find them and post some of them. My Cougar was still decommissioned in the garage at the time. When I find my pictures I will be able to give you a date when the 35 mm FILM was developed…remember film!?
It has to be 1987 or later as the third photo has the 87 anniversary addition Cougar in it. The orange 70 from OK I’m sure was Frank Bowers. The Blue GT-E could possibly be Chris Carney car. I think the white 68 conv was Virgil Brown before he added the G items to it.
yup I even have to original negatives to these photos. I was surprised when I looked at my original photos and on back was xx xx xx lol
(sorry about the poor scan of photos, I might see if I can get better digital copies.)
that sounds about right 87 or 88 or 89, I know it was before sept 89 since that was when I sold my 1970 Cougar xr7 convertible.
good to hear some of these young cougars are being recognized.
Mine is not an XR7 so not mine. This car is missing the GTE emblem on the passenger side. We had some old car show pics posted last month or earlier this month which I think showed this same GT-E and mentioned it was missing the emblem on the passenger side. I’ll look for that post.
