Brake warning light with aftermarket Combo valve?

I’m in the process of converting to 4 wheel disc brakes on my car. I bought the wilwood master as well as the combo prop/dist valve they sell. What I didn’t consider is that the electrical connection is merely a pressure switch and not a “warning” light.

I’m now considering buying a more traditional distribution block with the warning sensor and plumbing in a separate Prop valve.

I have this: http://www.wilwood.com/Images/MasterCylinders/MasterCylinder_Photos-Large/260-11179-lg.jpg

Considering this: http://www.cjponyparts.com/brake-combination-valve-disc-disc-1965-1973/p/BCV4/

Thoughts one way or the other? is the warning sensor a must?

Thanks.

Have you considered reusing your stock drum/drum or disc/drum (whichever you have) distribution block? If you have drum/drum, you just plumb the adjustable proportioning valve after the distribution block (in the rear circuit), if you have disc/drum, you remove the “cigar” proportioning valve and replace it (with the appropriate lines) with your adjustable unit.

The reason I suggest this is that in this way you can leave the brake warning switch and some (or most) of the brake lines as they are.

hmmm the original was pretty shot, but a rebuild might not be out of the question. hadn’t thought of that… thanks

Also, it was manual drum / drum

Do you need the warning light? On the race Cougar with the Wilwood setup (like you have) I just wired the wildwood pressure switch right into the Cougar wiring harness to operate the brake lights. No warning light and don’t think it is needed. You’re not worried about having it stock correct? If you’re installing the Wilwood setup.

I don’t guess I need the light… just never thought about not having it till i started installing it all.

No, i’m pretty far from stock so no issues there.

I’ll probably install the wilwood… I’m just trying to fit it all in around my hydraulic clutch setup.

Thanks for the input!

And isn’t THAT a fun chore… :wall:

Oh yes. feeling the joy. I’m also working up the nerve to knock out the hole in the firewall for the clutch linkage. My car was an auto… and it was going to be an auto. already painted and I had the great idea to install a manual. :wall:

Ah, but working the gears over will alleviate all the busted knuckles…good luck, and continued progress!

Here is a picture of my install. Yes, I had to do it twice to get it right. Actually three times if you count this weekend when I discovered that the hood hinge was going to hit the clutch reservoir.

Jealous, you have so much more room without a booster…LOL.

Perfect! Is that the master from the HydraMax / American Powertrain?

That’s the one I’m attempting with my t56 install.
