It has taken a few years to assemble the data, and build the data base, but we are getting very very close…
Here is how it works:
You will be able to spec out the Classic Cougar that you would have ordered back in the day, based on the the option availability as shown in the Dealer Order Guide. Once you have selected the options you want, the results will be displayed in the form of a window sticker.
But we need your help making this happen. The item description on the window sticker is slightly different from that shown in the guide. Since we are going for the most accurate reproduction we can muster, we need your window sticker or invoices to see how things were listed. If you have a window sticker or invoice please send the scan to billb at classiccougarcommunity.com (replace the at with and @ and remove the spaces)
Sent my SCJ car.
I have more that I need to scan. 1968 with special paint code.
Lots of copies floating around with the one Cougar sent to Kar Kraft, I have one if you need it?
I know that the registrars have a bunch, you might want to shake them all down.
Here’s my Marti reproduction… Marti told me that prices were not yet determined when my car was released, He gave me option of window sticker with prices (more interesting) or without (more authentic)…
As you can tell, this is not 100% complete, but this is a first pass look at what you will see after you spec out a car. We still have a bunch of work to do, but this will at least give you a feel for what we are trying to accomplish.
I’d be curious to know what the cost is, converted to today’s dollars. If not a line item on there that says “in 2011 dollars” or something, I guess it wouldn’t be too hard to just look it up on Google. I’m gonna do that right now!!!
Al, that is the hard part. We have to design the data base to respect a lot of rules for what comes included with an option, what is excluded and what is required. Then you have the issues of different prices depending on other options. We will have a few bugs, but I ma sure that this group will catch them so we can work them out of the system.
I say have the option to do both. Restrict to what the factory allowed to be put together and also a dream list regardless. I’m sure there is a way to fab some of the don’ts so they work.
Of course you know the next step would be to actually “build” the car.
Bill – I suggest you contact Phil Parcells, who prior to Kevin Marti getting the F-L-M database, used to prepare reprodcution window stickers for a fee. I’m sure he call tell you how all of the items are listed, etc.
