cam experience?

There is a guy locally that has an Elgin cam and lifters for sale for 150-

Seems like a good, yet still very street friendly choice.

Thoughts?

Depends on your set up. But a mild looking cam, just a little on the lumpy side.

A lot about cam choice depends on the combination of other parts that you have to make it work. Rear end gears, transmission type, torque converter, cylinder heads, cubic inches, exhaust, carburetion, compression - all affect each other and all need to be agreeable with each other and the intended results.

eh…Low lobe intensity. There are better cams out there for your application.

This is for my 70- close ratio 4 speed with 3.0 rear gear. I’m not looking for a race cam- my other 3 have plenty for me. I just saw it locally for decent money. I would not buy this cam online or any other. Kind of a cam of opportunity. I think I remembered Elgin asa popular brand name back in the 70’s- that is why I asked-

Narrow ratio 4 speed with a 3.00 gear? Leave the stock cam. This cam won’t gain you any thing…except maybe a worn clutch.
