Camera Case Material

I’m about to redo the clock location on the Eliminator (the right hand drive conversion puts it at the end of the panel) and need to find a source of camera case material.

Appreciate any suggestions

I have enough left over from my install to do one car. As seen here.

…at 11:41. You’re welcome

Can you turn the panel upside down and flip the emblem over and call it good?

not really. It’s not symmetrical and the numbers on the clock would be upside down

Don. I would probably need more than one length as I muck around getting clock angles, etc correct. Plus I don’t want to destroy good stuff on a car that isn’t original

Just a thought here… you could ship your panel up to WCCC and pay for them to do the refit, maybe? They obviously have the experience, having done them in the past

PS - I love spending other people’s money! LOL!

Wonder if carbon fiber would look out of place (I have spare panels to play with)

Can one simulate the camera case material with wrinkle paint?

I do recall reading a thread about that over on the other forum, but I couldn’t find it :-/

Here’s a thought… Customer of mine had his instrument dash panel and overlay for his airplane powder coated in a wrinkle finish… It looks really good… I’ll take a pic and upload it…

Crinkle powder coat finish…

Brian

Well, you are Down under so…

Brian that crinkle finish looks pretty good. One draw back I see would be the baking time/heat for powder coating might destroy the plastic dash parts.

I would not do it on the plastic… Any of the metal inserts on 69/70 cars would work though and paint the plastic surrounds… It’s been years since I had my 67 and can not remember if it had metal inserts in the dash like my 69’s have…

Repop Mustang dash pieces have this material. Wonder how to get ahold of the dist (carpenter, drake, ect) to get some?

Time to wake up an old post:

Don, do you have any more of the camera case material or can you point me in the direction of the material you purchased? The material on my Eliminator is wasted.

Thanks!

They claim it is a 100% perfect match, it is not… But the closest I have found.

Don’t know if this is helpful, but I use this site to replace the vulcanite and leatherette on old cameras. It comes in adhesive sheets.

Thanks Don and Jetexas for the responses.
