I bet if someone sent them a good picture with a scale included, they could possibly find a closer match.
Was this material from Cameraleather.com a hard sheet, soft material or what? i had heard years ago of people stretching vinal material that looked like camera case over there dash piece and glue-ing it on. but it would be soft to the touch unlike original. which one is better this stuff or the product don Rush suggested?
I ordered samples from them last year and what they sent was soft. It looked close to the original but not a match.
If the original can be saved, then I think it’s always best to patch it and go with it whenever possible. Otherwise strip it off and go with Cameraleather.com and I think 99% will never know the difference. My edges around the clock were messed up but I was able glue the edges back down and then put a light coat of paint over it and I think it looks pretty good.
The material I got is best described as a thick decal type, close to a vinyl material, not hard but not rubbery either. Heated it conforms to curves pretty easily.
