That is amazing. It looks brand new.
Wow! That’s beautiful! Do you have a “before” pic for comparison?
Here’s the “Before”

Looks excellent! On my Holley 4160 I considered sending it in to Holley, as they offer a restoration service. But being the CSOB I am, I ended up doing the job myself.
Royce, looks nice. Does he just do Holley carb’s or any carb in general? Does he have a link? John
As far as I know Joe only works on Holley carbs.
Wow that looks awesome. Do you have any contact info for him Royce. Thanks.
Brian.
His contact info is on the website set up by his buddy. Joe doesn’t do computers.
Thanks!
Thanks catlover for the link and Royce. I’ll call him this week.
Thanks for the pics and info Royce!
Does look really nice! What’s a job like that cost?
Full rebuild and recolor / replate job is $400 for an 1850 series Holley.
Bump…Royce, a question for you…
I have an old time mechanic here helping me who has said that the newer Holley Carbs are absolute JUNK, in his opinion, as far as the durability of the bodies’ metal itself. Especially compared to the original ones like this. I have had mine packed away for a few years now (done by Joe too) and am thinking of maybe putting it back on. It was running poorly years ago but I finally found the idling issue to be due to a bad plug wire and coil. And now I’m a lot less power hungry, suddenly. Two things are a question for me now then…
the little rubber caps on the vent hole on top of my float bowl is inexplicably missing. Do you know where a guy can get a replacement piece?(edit, I found a set on EBAY!)
Do you believe this issue on the metal quality/coating on the newer Holleys? Just curious.
What do you think I ought to do as far as preserving my original 8011? Use it or keep it packed away?
Thanks! Cheers,
B
Mike’s Carburetor Parts offers a variety of rubber vent valves, too.
I agree the new Holleys that are polished zinc are junk. With no alodine they corrode almost immediately when exposed to typical modern automotive grade fuels.
The traditional colored Holleys are pretty good, probably as good or better than anything made 40 years ago. Either way the only way to keep your carburetor clean long term is to use Avgas or leaded racing gas.
The one in the box should “keep” a long time if it is stored somewhere dry that does not have extreme temperature swings.
Thanks Royce. Interesting…And I don’t have any idea where I came up with 8011 lols…
I am leaning toward just getting 4088 back on the car and having things look a bit more original in there. I like the original fuel-delivery setup better too. It just looks right ![]()
Brian the Cobra Jet carb is 780 CFM and it really runs well on the 427. They sold a ton of them with the U suffix. It looks stock but runs better than stock.
