Nah, Jean; I met my “European-American” (born in Ohio) wife the old-fashioned way… met my college drinking-and-skirt-chasing buddy’s ‘little sister’ and somehow -it still shocks me to this day- she decided that I was a better deal than the yo-yo to whom she was engaged.
(Really, I have NO CLUE how that happened, but I don’t question it out loud too often; she might change her mind after only 31 years)
So? I’m curious. Is it time to take a club to MCnet yet to “put it out of its misery”? Only time I end up there anymore is when someone links to something over there and I click the link before looking too closely. Sad really, but…
This place is growing in membership by leaps and bounds!
The only time I visit MC.net is for archived info. One thing I have noticed over there is new members join everyday. It just seems like a lot of new members. Hmmmm???
Steven
From a practical standpoint, a lot of new Cougar owners are going to find that site first, simply because of history and the new owners skill at search optimization (MC.Net comes up on top of a lot of Cougar searches on Google). What we need to do is to make sure that those new arrivals know that this site exists, and that they are welcome here.
Competition is a good thing. It will keep us trying hard to find ways to make things better. And that is what is best for the community as a whole.
BAH! Ya give 'em the baby seal treatment! Beat 'em down when they speak, and tell 'em “If ya dont like it, go someplace else!” Wait a tic… thats how I ended up here!
Yes, indeed, sir. Even if they are treating it like a corporate Kleenex™, it’s still a storehouse of info and another high visibility node for the brand.
Yeah, I was talking about the whole slavery thing. You know, that we have more slaves now than ever in human history.
Supporting a site that supports or advertises for that kind of thing is something I’m not interested in doing. Not even a little.
Strangely enough… I still go over there. It’s likely even going to still be my first “stop” when I log on. I guess old habits die hard. But that doesn’t mean I stay there very long. If there is something that I feel I can really contribute to, I’ll post up. Those posts are getting increasingly fewer and further between. But I think I go there first just to “get it out of the way” so to speak.
I’ll never start a new thread over there anymore. It will only be here or CCG.

Agreed, Competition is what makes Capitalism work and if you can carve out a small piece of the market that caters to a particular crowd you’ll be successful especial if your good at it.
There is probably not enough room for 2 of these sights because the members make this sight just as the members made the old sight. I come here because I don’t have experience with cars and no one in my family were interested in them. I come here to read and LEARN from guys who live this stuff.
What we as members need to do is support the administration by donating, so that the administration is not taking on the whole burden. I don’t know Logans’ situation but I don’t think that he is now retired and living off of royalties from MC.
I had not donated to MC but have here because of you guys! The information that I contributed to these forums is minute compared to the knowledge that I have gained.
Thanks to Bill and the Administration for picking up where Logan dropped the ball, as long as the administration responds to their membership as you are doing, you will always stand over your competition. just my 2 cents. Cougar GEEK SalD
I can’t say anything bad about either site, as a noobee I have been helped tremendously on both sites. I still go to both as a sponge soaking up all the experience thats around
I used to hit MC.not first, then the blackpowder forums at thehighroad.org; but sometimes, here before the other two. Nowadays, it’s here first… ought to just make it my homepage.
I have met some very cool Cougar people and had a couple great experiences during and because of my “tenure” on Logan’s page. After the little “talking-to” by the new ADMIN -whose skill in persuasive literature made me think of somebody younger than either of my daughters and barely older than my 15-yr-old son… he in fact could well be more mature- I’m very happy to see how many of those “cool people” have come over here.
IMNSHO; this is page more like a “home” than mercurycougar.net would ever have been. To steal a line from an otherwise sadly forgettable short story-turned-B-movie named “Baja Oklahoma”; the ‘Triple C’ is more “like Willie Nelson, hold the onions”.
And nobody had to start a “I LOVE YOU GUYS”- type thread; it just happened.
