Colorado XR7-G 390 4 spd Project

Exportbrace goes on top, Stock cowl braces go on bottom.

Nope, I’m good thanks!

Excuse my ignorance. I thought they were all pretty much the same. As far as orientation.

The export brace can not fit on the underside due to it's ribs.
This is my 70 XR-7

Noticed the fan clutch appeared to freewheel a bit when hot. When i removed the clutch, it still felt tight though and dmooth when rotating.

I went ahead and replaced with the Hayden 2711 fan clutch per past links on this site. This clutch is approx .25" deeper and larger in diameter than the factory C8OE-B clutch. However, it fits on the fan and maintains clearance from the radiator when installed. I had to remember to use the brass bushing during assembly as the replacement clutch has a larger diameter mating hole than the original.

Do not toss the old clutch if it’s original. You can check the part number to see. I don’t have a name but that’s a part that can be rebuilt. Not being there reduces the value of the car significantly. I’m on board with using better modern wear items for a car you are driving regularly but always retain born with parts. Dr. Joe has provided an excellent example of how to return a car to born with parts and radically improving the value.

Yes, I kept it as it appears to be original with the C8OE-B number on it. It’s tight and doesn’t have any play in it.

In looking online, it appears only the CJ fan clutches are rebuildable as they can be split apart and refilled with silicon fluid…somewhere between 35-45 ml.

The following shop rebuilds them for $300.

A concours version from Dead Nuts On is available, but a bit expensive at $457.

Kirk rebuilt my C8OE-B and it works fine.

Thanks…will keep that in mind.
