Dealer Advertisement Emblems for your deck lid

Any interest in these? I met a guy who grew up with his dad running a salvage yard in SoCal. He collected a few hundred of these. Anyone know when the plastic ones came into play? I only see chrome and then only on 67-70. I think he wants to sell the entire collection to one person.

Awesome to see that a car from Thorp, Wisconsin wandered all the way out to South California to die.

Interesting collection. What’s he trying to get for them?

I would b e interested in a couple of them.

Interesting because most dealerships in SoCal use license plate frames to advertise.

He is fishing for $600 for this lot. He has about 100 that are the dealers name only, I would think they would be much less. My guess is that unless they are pristine the ceiling is about $30 and then only if someone really wants it.

I have a mid-'70s plastic one on my '70. Would love to find an earlier one though so I’m always looking for a metal one from Dick Price LM in Wichita, KS.

Some of those are very, very cool.

I see one from “Williamsburg Ford” in Williamsburg Virginia.

That is were my father purchased a brand new Cougar in 1969, but it was called “Person Ford” then.

Pronounced “purse on” BTW.

Would love to find a “Coral Gables Lincoln-Mercury” dealer plaque - that is where my G was sold new.

If only a Pearson Ford one from Picayune MS. I think I would have to consider it.

Some of those are not too old. The one for Town East Ford in Dallas is no older than mid 1990’s. I think $600 is probably more than they are worth but I don’t collect them.

I bought the entire collection of Ford and Lincoln Mercury emblems. Looking forward to it arriving.

Cool!
Jeff, if there’s one from E.A. Mott and Sons, I would be interested in buying it from you.

Hey Scott. I’ll take a look when they arrive but my interest is in keeping the entire collection together, not in breaking it up and selling individual pieces.

Are you planning to hang them up in your shop? It’s a cool collection.

No problem. I did find a licence plate frame from E.A. Mott (currently stuck on your side of the border due to Covid) that will go into the G collection.
Are you going to start visiting wrecking yards to continue your new collection?

The Dick Masheter Ford is from Columbus, Ohio my mom bought a sweet Tempo back in the early 90’s. Also, Cavalier is a popular dealership with the Sailors from Norfolk and Oceana seemed I was always taking friends there to get a car after deployment.

That is the idea.

Probably not wrecking yards as there won’t be many of the old metal ones left. I’ll be looking at swap meets though.

Picked this up for my 68 that was build and sold in San Jose.

^^^ That is a VERY cool score Brian!
