Keep in mind I am the only guy that would buy the required amount to make it happen and a properly mad pad will not roll or fold so shipping would be very expensive. Since we only sell a good used one about once a year, I do not see the market being ready got pads that will cost over $100 when you factor shipping.
No, not for me. But I do have a question. What is the purpose of heat shielding the hood, and also being so particular about heat and moisture getting past the foil tape?
About all I can say is I would happily pay $100 for a new pad for my GT-E. I would not buy one of your used ones. And I wouldn’t buy the one in the original post for any car.
Would the same pad fit Mustang hoods? If so, it seems like there would be a pretty good market for good OE-style molded pads… I think there is something to be said for the factor of not wanting to put a scuzzy 45 year old hood blanket on a freshly painted hood over a clean shiny engine bay.
I was thinking the same thing about the hood insulation pad. Is it’s purpose to keep the paint looking good? I’ve see a lot of cars without them. If heat damaging the paint is the problem, do ram air cars have them?

I believe the purpose of the original hood pad was purely noise reduction. I’ve never put one back on any of my cars. Just didn’t make sense trying to quiet down the noise from the engine compartment when we spend so much money on exhaust systems trying to make the car louder.
I’ve not heard that before. If that was the original intention, I’m not sure how well it would work considering the amount of oil that is usually found in an old hood pad.
