FiTech fuel injection

Just curious have anybody used one of these?was thinking about useing instead of factory ford stuff.

My nephew just went with that setup on his '70 Ford pickup (390 FE) and loves it. I have driven that truck and can tell you that it seems to work pretty well.

I just finished my install yesterday. Like it so far. Minor install issues due to installer (aka me) not FITech. Two calls in to FITech tech service line were answered quickly and were very helpful. The Edelbrock carb my car came with popped and I didn’t want to but another temporary carb so I made the change. All new pieces, tank to TB.

Did you go with the new in tank fuel pump? If so how did that go? I got that pump and the model 30004 thortlebody but have not installed yet.

I used the GP4 from Tanks, Inc, the same guys who made the fuel tank. The tank has an internal sump for the pump pick up. The pump itself is a Walbro 255lph. I liked the idea of the FITech fuel control center but didn’t want to have that in the engine bay. Tank installation was pretty easy but running the fuel lines (delivery and return) and wiring took some time. I needed a fuel pump block off plate, throttle cable and throttle cable bracket, and a few other things that jumped up during install. Plus the inevitable, tweak this, file that, etc to make things play nice together.

My nephew loves it on his, I think it’s a 360 FE, pickup. Says he picked up a HUGE amount on low end and throttle response.

Does anybody have numbers on what sort of mileage gains you get from a fuel injection conversion like this? I seem to be getting about 6 mpg with my Holley carb. I’m wondering if it’s worth the swap just to up that number to 10+.

I don’t have any hard numbers but I can tell you my FITech did add mpgs. Not only that, runs smoother, starts easier and the response is a lot better also. I didn’t add FITech to gain mpgs, I added it so it started and ran better, plus it was a fun project.

My 67 with 289 4v Holley did 13mpg. It still needs new plugs and wires. So I’m looking for improvement on those numbers.

Fitech works great on my 408. Starts great hot or cold, great throttle response, less gas smell in the garage…Just be sure to use an in tank fuel pump and not their fuel control center

BTW - I have been considering selling the FiTech unit and switching to the Holley Sniper - not that I’m unhappy with the FiTech, but the 600 HP unit doesn’t have the provision for bumping up the idle when the AC is on and in Florida we use a lot of AC.

Same here in Houston. We’ve been carrying 90s into October. We finally had our first “cold front” move in last night. It will still be in the 80s today, but at least it’s less humid.

Yep, the only thing different between Houston and Jacksonville weather is your three days ahead of us

I am using the FCC and it works just fine.

Local guys are running Fitech with external Bosch fuel pump and they haven’t reported any issues. Running on GM products and a 67 Ranchero. We are only coming onto hot and humid so haven’t had any feedback on Houston type weather
