Hey guys, have a question about 351c 2V heads versus 4V heads and fuel injection. Am thinking about going with the Fast EFI throttle body injection. It seems to me that the larger valves in the 4V heads should make for a little more power; is that correct or just wishful thinking?
Appreciate any thoughts and/or advice.
I would think having a 4v intake would be mandatory for the flow characteristics but I could be wrong.
Cougars_R_Grr8,
I agree with you that the intake is mandatory, but was wondering about the heads as well. I currently have the 2V setup, but could change to an aftermarket 4V manifold which I think would fit the 2V heads. It seems to me that changing to the 4V heads would help, but not sure. I do appreciate the input.
Thank you
4V heads are not necessarily the best way to go for a street car.
Thanks 1969XR7Vert, so would you recommend a 4V aftermarket intake mated to 2V heads?
I’m just after the best performance for a street car.
Yes, a 4V intake made for 2V heads is the way to go for a street car. Edelbrock Air Gap or Performer would be my recommendation.
Perfect! Thanks for the information
The 4v heads are fine. If you’re after performance, they’re what you want.
Stock m-code engines make 350 lbs of torque around 2500 rpm or so with a performance cam, with plenty of dyno sheets and recommended builds.
They be bop around in traffic and do all the stuff people do with cars.
I’ve ridden in plenty of stangs back in the day that had 4v heads and they worked great, both from performance and driveability, and at least the '71 Mach 1 my bud had, responded very well to other mods. That Mach would tear ass when you wanted it to, but could putt along in high school cruising mode all night long w/ no issues. If I ever have to replace the 289 in mine, I would probably go w/ a Cleveland 4v build and keep the 289 as it is the original engine.
