Hood adjustment

Anyone know how to get rid of this gap?
I keep adjusting the bolts on the springs but can’t seem to make this gap go away.

Had this issue with my 69 and after a few purchases, the only thing that fixed it was a new good quality set of hood hinges. The arms on the cheap set I bought would bend out when I closed the hood after a few uses.

Have you tried tilting the hinges down in the rear ?
Open hood, loosen the bolts, loosen the front bolt only slightly, the push upward on the front of the hood, making the hinges move down in the rear, tighten the bolts, close hood and see if there is any changes

Thanks. I’ll try that.

Thanks. Hope it doesn’t come to that. But if it does… any recommendations?

I had to twit my hinges all the way towards the firewall for the hood to look good, pita!

Does the hood go down and line up when you press down on the hinges in that position ?

Try lubing up the pivot points on the hinges themselves and see if it settles down better.

I have found it also helps if you raise hinge on the front bolts and lower on hinge on rears bolts, on worn hinges. it sounds strange but it rotates hinge to a lower position.

That worked!
Thank you!

You’re welome  glad i could help with an easy fix

I’ve got the same problem so this is on my list of things to do too.

I am going to have to try that trick too. My gap in the same location is bad. Working with the hood alignment/fitment is a total PITA!

It totally worked. Highly recommend. And easy to do.

OMG! I tried that and it threw everything out of whack! LOL! Made a couple minor adjustments and now, almost perfection! That trick talked about here really worked very well. Hood alignment is WAY better now and I am happy. Our car needs some minor body work but a paint job for sure and some slight body panel tweaking.

Ha ha. Glad you got it just right. It’s so nice driving around and not seeing that big gap in front of me.

I assume you only loosen the bolts on the side that is sticking up?

No. I did both sides. With the top forward most one of the three being the least loosened.

^^^ thanks for the clarification Scott - my Cougar has the exact same issue.

I will definitely give this a try.

I did just the side that needed the adjustment. Worked well and looks much better after the minor tweaking.

Cool. So glad it worked!
