I still have a land line, also have a tube t.v., but will go one step further: There’s a reason that us guitar players till prefer tube amplifiers to solid state, and over the digital modeling amplifiers-THEY SOUND BETTER! PERIOD!!!
I have went to the computer for mixing/mastering just for space and $$$$ limitations because you can do a LOT with a MAC for this and will give good results without taking up a wall with equipment.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I still prefer to tune by reading plug color.
Absolutely. I just picked up a nice little 15w Vox tube head, sounds so good!
I fit into this category as well, I have a Marantz 4415 receiver, Pioneer RT-707 reel-to-reel tape deck, and a Sansui turntable. I’m really into the old school analog audio stuff.
I also really like “mid century modern” style when it comes to decor, furniture, architecture, etc. And obviously I like old cars too.
That said, I’m 28 years old and try to somewhat keep up with the times & my peers, so I do use social media and an iphone and all that stuff. So I’m a weird hybrid.
I pay cash for everything unless I’m ordering over the phone or online.
I still have a land line.
I have three tube TVs that are all connected and working and are used regularly.
I record all my shows on VHS tape because they’re portable and I can carry them to work and watch them at lunch… when I actually have time. Co-workers are embarrassed because I actually edit high-definition video for a living.
My rack stereo system has a working belt drive turntable that I still play vinyl on.
I custom built my home shop and refused to allow plans for a lift.
Not counting my wife’s van because she bought it, my NEWEST of six vehicles in my fleet is a 1988 and it has sported historical plates for four years now. All six run and drive and are insured. No parts cars here.
yeah, I’m old school, I survived spankings, lead paint, rusty playgrounds, second hand smoke, toy guns, no seat belts, no helmets, and drinking from the hose.
First, everything Scott said
I guess i’m a mix and match, out of necessity I guess
I still pay cash, pissed me off the other day at the grocery store a dude used a debit/credit card for a candy bar
I still write checks to pay bills, when I start adding 0’s it reminds me to “slow down skippy”
I have a landline, but its a wifi box, 1/3 the cost of a copper line.
Tube amp for sure, but I have a usb guitar jack to plug into my mac
Analog turntable, but also a usb turntable that plugs into pc, obviously I still have vinyl
RT909 reel to reel, collecting dust at the moment, sony juke box cd player, funny how many youngin’s are oblivious music used to come out on cd
I still have analog multimeters, but also have digitals.
I dont facebook, tweet, snapchat, and texting I fought for a long time cause we did that at IBM back in the day with the bricks but I gave in.
And the obvious, I have a car I can tune and work on without a damn computer
Land line, tube TV, still carrying the flip phone I purchased for $15.00 at Wal-Mart in 2008, when my work insisted I have a cell. And I’m insanely jealous of Yorgle’s Case 444.
I stick with cash when buying routine things and at restaurants, after my CC was stolen.
I have land-lines for phones, which are useful when hurricanes hit because all our phone lines are underground.
Have 2 tube TV’s and one tube computer monitor.
I still use some computer applications from 1998, because they work, and I don’t have to learn new sh!t when upgraded. I hate paying for upgrades.
I use checks all the time. If they end in an even number, I write “and nonsense”. After 35 years, only 3 people have caught that.
I have wrenches and tools from the 30’s that belonged to my father and grandfather. Much better quality than today!
I refuse to wear contacts.
These forums are the only social media I use, because everything else is a high security risk. BTW, never provide your birthdate in your forum profiles.
I can’t believe how many of us have Marantz tape decks. I have the Marantz gold going through a 50 watt Panasonic receiver, pushing the old Thrusters 2 x10 cabinets.
