Hi
I wanted to install an oxygen sensor but am not sure where to put it. Instructions say ~24 inches after the collector. Does that mean 24 inches after the Y that joins the 2 pipes into 1? (Have a single exhaust)
Thanks

Typically an AFR is only going to read one bank of the engine so from my experience on a newer car I sold a while back, it goes right after the exhaust manifold/header. The Collector they are referring to is where the exhaust manifold/header connects to the exhaust pipe. So 24" back from the manifold/header flange.
I put mine just aft of the driver’s side manifold.
It should be fine as long as you put it behind the header and before any H or X pipe in case of a dual exhaust.
Since you have a single exhaust, i would put it somewhere behind the header but before the merging of the 2 exhaust pipes.
They want you to place it far enough back that it won’t be burned up due to being too close to the engine. That’s why they say at least 24" back from where the manifold or collector meets the exhaust pipe. It can be further to the rear and still work fine.
I have never seen one two feet back after the collector, but you certainly could and it would work. I typically put mine about three to four inches behind the merge collector.
