I had leak and have to change out my intake gaskets, have a 351w with Ford GT40 X303 Aluminum heads with an Edelbrock Performer intake. The Gaskets that I just pulled of have a number 1262S on them?
The Ford Installation for the Heads say to use Gaskets Set M-9489-A50 Can some just please tell what the hell is the best gasket for my Head and intake combo. Can’t seem to find Ford number above but I did see a number M-9439-A50 ? Help
When I’ve bought those Ford Motorsports/FRPP gasket sets, they turned out to be recognizable as Fel-Pro anyway. The 1262 is the bigger port (1.28 x 2.10), and 1250 is the smaller size (for, say, stock iron 302 heads) at 1.20 x 2.00. Use either FRPP’s A50 gasket set, or the Fel-Pro 1262, which the A50 will almost certainly turn out to be.
I noticed that one lacked an opening for the heat crossover, which would leave your intake manifold “cold.” So I looked it up. http://www.fme-cat.com/overlays/part-detail.aspx?brandId=FL&pNum=1262%20S-3&partType=Intake%20Manifold%20Gasket%20Set implies this is for the user who will be happy with that (it has a steel core, for one). You might want to go with just the straight 1262, which you may be able to open the crossover on with if desired. Or call Fel-Pro’s 800 number and ask why neither the 1262 or 1262S pictures no longer show a crossover port (800-325-8886)
