[quote}Sum-g9131 would be your part #. They list it as 260-302 where every other manufacturer lists 260-351w. Anyhow, I have a set for my '68 and they are actually Patriot full length. If you plug in '69 chassis with 302 they list them and every other header listed for '69 with a 351 Windsor. Go figure. Hope it helps.

Now do you have these on a 69 351w as well or just your 68? being the difference is chassis and engine bay size would be a consideration on these. I do like the ceramic coated at the price though. I’m waiting until thursday morning when I can call Patriot and speak to someone there. I’m concerned purchasing headers for up to a 302 and having issues.
The reason I gave you that part number is if you look on your search for a '69 chassis with a 351 Windsor, most of the other manufacturers list 260-351 or 302 (which has the same deck height as a 260)-351. When I brought up your year with a 302, this set along with every other set that comes up on the '69 chassis with a 351 also comes up.
I hear you on not wanting to go that route on headers. Half of the sets you can buy that are listed for most chassis can be a real pita depending on chassis/manufacturer. I was just trying to illustrate that most header manfacturers, if it is a Windsor tend to list both low deck (260-302) and tall deck (351) Windsor’s as all working in a particular chassis.
FPA fit perfectly, except for clearance to my borgeson sterling box. They fixed that by moving one tube a bit an now they are perfect for my installation. That was a few years ago, I think they may offer them ready for the borgeson box now.
Either way they fit great to the car, good ground clearance and quality.
Re: Hooker SCs 6116-Both our '69 Cyclones and our '69 Cougar have the 351W/FMX powertrain. One Cyclone has column shift, and though the footnotes say the 6116s won’t fit a column shift car, they do.
The SCs are expensive. If I wasn’t spending the money on them I’d be spending it on something else. Sometimes car guys think like that.
How right you are. I’m just a cheap skate. If I have a choice between four and the fifth is WAY more, I tend to look the other way. That is unless that one that is way more is a name I recognize and the other four are something like Handsome Boy One Size Fits All brand headers.
So related to headers, what has everyone done for exhaust? I don’t see a very good complete kit at a DIY clamp price except Mustangs Unlimited and my custom shop says $600-$700 for pipes and install, before purchase of headers and mufflers.
On my last car I actually took my brothers “old” exhaust and cut and modified it to make my own. He was upgrading his practivally new system to 3". Was a longer csr so had lots of room to modify it as need be. This time will probably buy the tailpipes but try to do the front again
The 2 1/4" system in my '68 was welded up by a shop in Danville Illinois for $400 before it came to rest here. That being said, things in that part of the state seem to be a little less expensive than not just the rest of the state, but the country as well. Would have paid about $600-$700 here in metro Atlanta.
I’m Going to just suck it up and get what I want done, headers with flowmasters custom done. I wanna drive and with the minor price difference, I know I have an exhaust t hat can handle a 408 down the road.
I had Hooker Super Comps on my 69 and an AOD and didn’t have to tweak them at all. I did have the ps drop bracket. With that said, I did not have stock heads on the car. I had World Products Windsor Sr heads
Just curious, how long ago was your install? As mentioned earlier, the SuperComps in my '69 351W Cougar were a bear to fit. Significant interference with the shock tower reinforcements, steering linkage and clutch bellhousing. That install was nearly twenty years ago though. It’s possible they’ve revised the pattern since then, although they don’t mention it, and the part # hasn’t changed.
My build was also a long time ago - I built that car from '99-01.
Oh - you had a 4 speed? Mine was an auto (AOD). I don’t remember having any issues mounting them, and I had also left my steering linkage in tact for the install.
