This is mine. Trying to finish up.

That’s an awesome cat you got there! Kinda funny to think that somebody ordered a 428CJ Ram Air eliminator with wire wheel covers!

Yes im not sure why. It has the usual rims now but not sure why it was ordered that way. I also have a 70 Houndstooth cougar that had the wire wheels.

Are your styled steel wheels all still round? I have two that aren’t and cause a shimmy.

I also used to have a 70 XR7 houndstooth - and I put the wire wheel covers on it. That’s a better fit!

No I threw all the wire caps away. Thought they were ugly lol. Should have kept. The car has the magnum style wheels now with beauty rings. Not sure what they called.

What you have on the car now looks to be the factory riveted styled steel wheels. I was asking if yours were still round vs. oval shaped from hitting curbs like mine. You have to be careful with those wheels because they get stress cracks and loose rivets and can come apart on you.

Thanks for information i did not know that. I’ll check these out. I’ve never driven the car i bought in pieces 12 years ago.

I just checked. These are the riveted rims. What do you recommend besides these?

Just make sure those rivets are tight and not rusty, and no hairline cracks anywhere on the wheel. I am still running my originals, but I don’t do alot of driving at highway speeds.

There are all lots of options for aftermarket wheels that look great on Cougars. If you ever do decide to replace yours, I’d be interested in buying two of yours - if they are in good shape and the right date code.
