My '69 XR7 R code, I use these wheels/tires on it as driving/show and shine car show presentations, after the “correct” car shows and judging are done and I want to motor fast and get the CJ to hookup. They are black spoke Cragar SS, with Goodyear Eagle GT, V speed rated 215X55X17 on front and 235X55X17 on rear. I think they look great, especially on a black or dark color car, and the 17s are not too big and don’t look like a stagecoach even when replacing 14", IMO.
Looks sharp.

Whatever floats your boat, man.
I used to think I’d switch back & forth between bias plys on original wheels & radials on repro rims. Sure the radials have better ride/handling characteristics, but I’ve had the bias plys on now for the past 7 years. It hooks up just fine with the bias plys.
Now, what you really need to do is get your factory pinstripes workin’…
Well, this car, according to my Marti, came original with FR70X14 radials anyway. So correct or road wheels, no bias plies for me.
And I don’t have any pinstripes except the silver Cougar head and 428CJ ones on the hood, should I have others in silver along the top fenders and door area?
Looks great to me! There was a factory pin stripe at the top of the fender door quarter area. And Silver would be my choice.
Looks great the way it is
