Panel hunting to save a write off!

Hey guys,
I live in australia so its hard to get cougar stuff. Ive gone and crashed my 69. If i cant find a panel and wheel well, they’re going to write the car off which i really dont want. Nobody says they can fix the damage. If anyone knows of anywhere that i can acquire a panel and wheel well for a drivers side rear quarter i would be greatly appreciative.
Cheers, paul

I have a 1969 1/4 panel.

Send me your email and i will get you pictures. We will have brand new quality panels in a few months.

What were you doing to break that?

Looks repairable to me.

Just time and money, most panel beaters would not be bothered with this, they only want quick jobs they can turn over for a quick profit.
Hardest part is getting the correct panels/parts.

If you can’t do the work yourself, look for a restorer who can take on such a job. It will be expensive.

Also advertise on the Australian cougar site.

From experience I have learned to never allow the insurance adjuster to take an assessment of my vehicle/s after a collision, especially if the damage is minor and cosmetic. If the car was so mangled that you could no longer tell what it was, then, perhaps, I’ll let the insurance company assess it. ‘Oh, look at that, a dent, TOTALED.’ My apologies for my brief rant but this is from learning the hard way.

Thanks for the help guys. Insurance has written it off. Not sure what I will be doing now

Not sure what you mean, written if off,

In Australia, only cars 15 years and older become either a Stat ( never to be registered again) or a Repairable write-off ( can be registered again after being repaired and having inspection ).

So you may get paid out $$, but you should be able to keep the car, repair it and register it again.

Written off = declared a total loss.

Is it insured with Shannons?

Buy the wreck back. Should be around $500. It is a repairable write-off

Where in Queensland are you? EDIT - Could be Vic classic plate

That is repairable. Use the right off money to have it repaired

I have a rough quarter on my parts car that could be used.

Here is a 69 for sale in Washington state. It may be ideal for you.

Different meanings in Australia.

Ain’t that the truth! I would have lost my cougar to an insurance adjuster if I hadn’t bought it back after an interior fire!
