Radiator HELP!

I’m having some issues installing my new radiator. It’s a 4 core aluminum Champion unit. My 68 is a factory ac car so it has the 24 inch radiator but still runs very hot. Where the Champion is 20 inches instead of 24, and not to metion it’s over a 1/2 inch thicker it’s not exactly a drop in replacement. I’ve bent my bottom brackets wider but it hasn’t really helped where the Champion is tapered on the bottom. I know I’ll need a 20 inch fan shroud but what else? My car is torn apart in my driveway as I type this.

Thanks

Why are you moving to a smaller radiator? Going from the 24" to the 20", you’re actually losing 72 square inches of cooling area.

On the factory 20" radiators there was one bolt at each side of the top that held it into the front, no upper brackets.

That radiator will never fit right and keep in mind aluminum does not dissipate heat as well as a brass / copper unit. The two videos posted on these listings should help explain.

Yeah the 20" radiator will never fit on your lower cradles (you may even need to remove them for clearance). 20" radiators are meant to bolt to the radiator support directly-no brackets used. There’s a flange on each side of the radiator that should line up with the holes in the radiator support.

New brackets are fabricated and ready to install in the car!
