Royce, Is this a real G?

Well done Bill. I guess the incite you gave him on his car worked.
Steven

In general, the Cougar community does take care of its own. Jim Pinkerton and Phil Parcells have probably averted more disasters than you can count.

With all due respect Bill, I think I deserve the same credit?

Well done! It’s good to see he changed his mind. We are blessed to have people like Royce, Jim Pinkerton and Phil Parcells to make this a well informed community.

Oh HELL YES! Royce, I didn’t mean to leave you out, I thought it went with out saying but, absolutely you deserve the credit for this one, and many many others. I just mentioned those two guys as examples beyond what had happened in this thread. Thanks for all you do!

How about this XR7G guys, just sold on Ebay yesterday for $5200. It looks to be all there but just a bit rusty. The Vin is in the listing in case it’s not in the registry. I was in the hunt just for the parts , also it’s a rare color combo, only 15 with (X) wellington paint with 6D XR7 red interior. probably the only G in that combo.

I reported it to Royce. It had not been in the registry. That is the second XR7G this month that has been reported that was not previously listed.
Steven

Royce, how many G’s are accounted for? John

Sorry but I found that description just a bit amusing. Aside from the roof it looks like that car has been hit from every possible angle.

Isn’t the number made 619 not 140? Dan Gurney Special? Red Leather interior in good shape? Very totaled but compete, XR-7G?
I think it’s sad that if they have one of these cars or any other, that they should at least look on line for some good accurate info. In my opinion, somebody didn’t like this car to have it look like this in the end.

1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7G

This car is a very rare 1 of 140 Dan Gurney Special
Ford’s 4v 302 V8 with a Automatic
Red leather interior in good shape
Has the rare factory sunroof
The car is very complete
All the special emblems on the car
(headlights, dash, C-Pillars)
Been in storage the past 20 years
(BARN FIND)
The engine is free and car rolls nice
The car has rust BUT is very rare

I remember looking for my first used car in the early to mid 1970s. Wanted a Cougar but was very intrigued by Shelbys.

Pre - price boom and pre internet Shelby Mustangs were a real mystery and they tended to be VERY used up.

For some reason, Gs seemed to get the same treatment. Driven hard.

The Red Hertz G listing was ended early , my guess is it sold for around 7K ,
Another red Hertz G sold last year or so for 5K and it didn’t have the front clip , it had been in an accident

Let’s hope whoever bought these cars are on the forums

Looks like the blue G sat since 1978 , that’s the year on the license plate in the pictures , stuck in a barn away from sight for quite a long time.
I like it just because all the G parts are there in one place .
Can the body be saved ? Doubt it but you never know.
It could be the only G car in that Color /Trim combo , Wellington Blue with Red XR7 interior , kinda neat.
Change the black vinyl top to white and you have the American Flag Cougar , just add stars and stripes.

I was thinking the same thing! Could you put magnums on it with the spoked center caps to be the stars? LOL!

Royce on a 68 coil spring does it get the plastic caps top and bottom or just the top

Just on top.

Nothing to see here  just another dope not payin attention ( and corrected) thanks Cougerrand

It has the Dan Gurney package it is not a XR7-G. Big differance

Royce need your help identifying the indent in the trunk of my 68 XR-7

Can you take pictures of it?

Royce, here’s a link to the thread that MikeD is talking about.
It’s the 2nd picture. Need help I don’t identifying trunk indent
