Show us your Cat as it sits right now

Hey everyone. Just got back in the car hobby after a long hibernation. I was lucky to discover this beauty in the rough that was put away in 1984 and was never moved from its garage since. 1969 Cougar XR7 Convertible with a 351 V2 .Orig eng and trans.Man! I was just a teenager in 84 and to think it sat there all this time!.

I took my White 1970 XR-7 to a local casino show today. Had a great turnout, I parked nest to the 1969 Camaro SS/RS Big Block car that won Best Muscle car. But the funny thing was, I was not the only Cougar in attendance. It turned out that I was not the only White 1970 Cougar there!

I finally had a chance for a long drive in my 69. Drove 350 miles RT and she ran great. Very satisfying.

Looking sharp👌

Now that the motor’s running well, she’s off the road this weekend just for a bit here to address some other small things. The poor Vette is off the road this season & it’s hood has been a staging area for a million small parts/packs all to help bring the Cougar back up to par. My fender covers are away on another car project rn so makeshift towels work fine, but another pair of covers will be nice to have around. The LED lighting in there looks terrible against the car but is ++ for working on things.

Rewiring the whole dual-fan setup and finishing up to have all under-hood wiring nicely routed and inside split-loom tubing. Installing Bill’s Pertronix relay. R&R with all new> strut rods & Moog bushings kit (per Royce’s write-ups). R&R alternator with freshly built 100amp unit. Slowly cleaning & restoring under-hood section by section as I move along with each repair/replace project where things are taken apart and opened up giving access.

Took my nasty-azz dash panel off again to do a few things… (these 2 panels are so badly needed, mine are in horrible condition and the interior only has a couple things left before it’s🤌 again. The remains of any chrome plate look disgusting in person and these panels ruin the interior. cannot wait to replace them) swapping out the recent new temp gauge as the black and the white faced colrs looked wrong, italic font looked bad too, so went with a quality & looks upgrade Autometer pro-comp silver face & trim. much better compliment now to factory gauges. I do not like the teal or blue shades dash backlighting, so I’m installing green LEDS as the green reminds me of all my old-school car’s clusters and I like it better.

Very recently, as you can see… drivers lower seat cover started many threads pulling out and a split opening now near a seam. The rest of all the seat covers, esp rear are nearly as new but driver’s seat looks like crap now, maybe my trim shop can save it. if not, will need to get a new cover and install with some fresh batting to bring back the individual rounded/raised channels between each stich. Another one for the off-season project list along with 3-point belts upgrade and refinishing everything ahead of core-support while straitening, aligning & restoring the grille✅

There’s always something else to do on these cars, so I just want to make sure I don’t go deep where I’m not able to enjoy some more driving and shows before the end of Fall. Best to everyone🤘

I had it sitting outside yesterday while moving more of the fleet around to get my Fox T-Bird into the shop for some maintenance. Rather than move it twice, I just left it out so I can stare at it. And before anyone flags it, no the hood isn’t close all the way.

I do that some times… I will park one of the cars out where I can see it from my office so I can look at it.

Sometimes I go sit in my garage, turn on 60s Gold, and look at mine
