What brake issues are you having Paul?
My rear brakes refuse to disengage, I have replaced the shoes, hardware and wheel cylinders twice and it worked for about 30 miles and then locked up and was like that until it cooled down and I could get the drums off. I took it to the Dad of my coworker (who is a mechanic) and he thinks the problem is resolved. I am not that sure, when I got the car home it appeared that there was some smoke coming from the rear tires. It could have been me as my wife didnāt see any. I am negotiating with my wife now to have a few things done on the car, so a disc brake upgrade and brake lines are one of the possible updates. Although she listened when the Dad said that the drums brakes work just fine for the car and that the money could be spent doing something else like AC/heat which my car doesnāt have due to a previous owner.
Hmmm, sounds frustrating. Iām not particularly good with brakes. Hopefully someone else has an answer
Iām here all week. Try the beef.
Just bought this 69 Eliminator! Been in my family for 46 years! It belonged to my oldest brotherā¦ Then my youngest brotherā¦ Now itās my turn!
I had the same problem w/my LTD II a long time ago after a rear brake job. The problem? The self adjuster and parking brake cable assembly were backwards so every time I used the brakes, they adjusted instead of in reverse. Take the drums off and check them vs the diagram in the fan, or an exploded view. It may not be this, but itās worth a look.
We need pictures!
Johnnykool6 you have to send pictures. Actually you need to start a site introduction post. Give us the back story with pictures and twll us your plan for it and what it has
Yep! Not sure how to do that yetā¦ Trying to do pics, but it didnāt post. Not working the same as my other forums Iāve used. Ill sit and read instructions soon! And Iāll brief you nowā¦ This is a 69 Eliminator, my oldest brother bought in 71. He then sold it to my little brother after a family feud with me! My little bro, tubbed it out sadly, but did a nice job. And put a Real Boss 351 in it. Damaged that engine, and sold the boss to me! I stroked it and built it up to about 700hp. Now its sitting and waiting on a home. Then little bro offers me up the Cougar Eliminator (which now has a 302 roller motor and fmx), so of course I jumped on that! Waiting for the title to come back in my name! Finally it will be mine, after all this time!!! Iām not sure if Iāll put the Boss 409 stroker/ 4 speed back in or not! To put it back to stockā¦ Un-tubbing it looks to be too much work sadly! Iāll post vin noās, soon as I can! And Iāll try pics againā¦ Not sure if Iām not allowed because Iām newb!
Usually the problem with posting pics is the size - reduce them some and see if the forum will accept.

I think the easiest way is posting to facebook or instagram and that reduces the size, (i think), then you can use that picture. At least that works from a phone I donāt know about desktop.
Thanks Phillip! I read in the faq section about posting pics, and it said donāt worry about the size, the picture editor would resize it to fit. I think the problem is because Iām newā¦ I thinkā¦ And not allowed yet??
Johnnykool6 what is the error message? Maybe I donāt have the permissions set up properly?
Itās now working! Thanks Xr7g428!!
Here it is in the original color way back when, in our driveway we called ford street!
Thatās awesome.
Swwwweeet!! Great looking car too. Love that color. What shade of orange is that. Reminds me of the color on my step-dadās mopar ( prowler pearl orange). That cat looks fast sitting still.
Prowler orange was one of the finalists on the short list of oranges that I was deciding on for my car.
Actually been trying to find that out. Since it was originally a yellow Eliminator, and my car wrecking little bro changed itā¦ Heās told me it was ( his words) Mach I orange, and what he claims is the same color, Chevy orange! (Heās ādifficultā to talk to for me, since heās become a beer expert! Which is sad, because he was a Ford tech for 30+ years) Heās also called it some fancy red color Iāve never heard of! Anyway, competition orange is a possibilityā¦ Though I may never really know! Lol! I love the orange, but wish it were the original yellow!
