Stereo in 70 XR7 Convertable

Thank you for the feedback. I am already committed, I have it sitting here in a box. I have the Custom Auto sound USA850. I have undercover 2 speakers that I think I can tuck in behind the back seat. I also have a Rockford fosgate powered sub and an amp to drive the under cover speakers. I have a custom auto sound dash speaker as well. The only thing I haven’t purchased yet is the door speakers. I am waiting to make sure they fit. I will use the radio head to power the door and dash 2 channel speaker. I will let everyone know how it comes together and works. I was reading a lot (YouTube vids as well) on coordinating a system, true rms, speaker ohms, sensitivity, not over or under powering speakers . Way too much info out there, wow!

An update, I was going to do the stereo install myself, after going to a show and shine, seeing and listening to some of the audio systems I decided to get a shop to install my audio system considering how much work went into the rest of the car. I contacted a reputable shop, he wasn’t happy with my choices, I have some of it already, some I will return, I am not ready to write off the auto sound head unit. My new top is going on in a few weeks hopefully, after that it will hit the audio shop, I will give updates on what was used, what fits and how it sounds. I will also update on the head unit.

Good morning and happy Thanks Giving weekend Canada. Not into stereo yet, but did manage to troubleshoot heating problem in car with the help of the forum. I sent a link from the forum ( Using electric cooling fan is better way? ) about heating issues to my pal at the auto shop, rebuilt / replaced 2 core rad with 3 core rad with a different thermostat, fixed the problem. Thanks forum!!! The shop spent a lot of time messing with it and were about to go down the road of electric fan, crazy unicorn thermostat for the cleavland.

I know this thread started out as “stereo in 70XR7 convertible”, not there but inching closer. It goes in for the top install this weekend. Also car was on the Dyno yesterday, I will upload a video if I can figure it out. 412hp with 435 torque. Sounded deadly!!

Top is done, looks great. Will post a pic.

You can’t post a video directly to this forum. Get it on YouTube. Then share it on your thread. Beautiful car BTW. Had a 2006 Cadillac DHS that color… Or close to it

Hello Mopauly, thank you. Yes I figured after trying to post it for a while, I will figure the posting on youtube. I was almost there and then I noticed the plate number was on my videos, not sure if that is something to throw out there, I am just a bit paranoid with all the scamming going on these days. I will figure how to clean that out and post it. The color was a tough decision, paint it the original factory color or paint it the same as when I bought it, the later won, its close to the color it was when I bought it. The Cragar SSTs are the same wheels I bought when I was a kid.. Waiting form my shifter rebuild parts from WCCC and after that it comes home. More to come on that.

The license plate and the VIN is visible any time that you drive the car. Don’t fall into the rabbit hole where you imagine that scammers want that.
