I think some are thinking too much into this project. This is a very down and dirty way to patch together an otherwise junk car. Obviously its not the most correct way to do it but for what he is trying to accomplish its going to work and be cheap.
What I think when I read this thread is Roadkill, It reminds me of what It reminds me of what David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan do. IE, Make noise and go fast Have fun!. I might have a problem if his reason to build this was to make money from selling it.
I think he said he was patching some of the external rust too in the first video. I’m more curious about the use/life expectancy. Regardless of how the work is done, it is a lot of work for a temp car.
I have fun watching Roadkill and it’s great if all you want to do is get it running and have fun. Haven’t been able to follow Roadkill Garage and what they did with the Cougar except for the first episode.
You could always subscribe for $5 and watch all the roadkill, roadkill garage, and dirt everyday…then cancel
Thanks for all the views and comments. I’m just showing people that you can save cars like this and not go broke if you do it a little different, a little more Cuban
I was thinking Frankenstein more than Cuban. It will actually be a bit of a mongrel monster when you are done. I knew I guy that raced BMW 2002s back in the day (Alf Gebhardt) http://www.racingsportscars.com/driver/photo/Alf-Gebhardt-USA.html He bought rusty cars and sand blasted all the rust away. He called them bodies in brown ( a tongue in cheek take off of the bodies in white that were acid dipped to make them lighter) He said that he could knock close to 200 pounds off a 2000 pound chassis and get the rigidity back when he put in the cage.
Don’t sweet it any. He is doing what Hot Rodders have always done. Find a cheep body and power train and put them together to have fun with. IE: RoadKill.
Sure, but this isn’t putting a BBC on the back of a junkyard refugee truck, or a 5.0 with a turbo in the front of an RX7. It’s a Shove-Roll-Eh in the nose of a Cougar! That’s the bit that stings for me. This is why I am so conflicted!

And man do I love Roadkill. =) Having fun with cars that by all rights should be in the scrapyard? Sweeet.
Probably do a faux magnesium finish like this video and leave the lips silver. Not sure yet, the fun looks stuff will have to wait until she is running and driving unless I have a couple of days waiting on parts. I’m almost thinking a patina gulf racing livery would be really good looking. Like a barn find racer.
Does anyone know what all I need to install the back glass other than the seal? Do I caulk the inside of the seal where the glass goes or just the lip on the car side? Thanks
