Things new cars have that I would like to add to my Cougar

There was another thread about rear view mirrors that mentioned using a mirror with integrated Homelink and courtesy lights. Both things I like. I would like to add a reverse camera. I have seen mirrors that have a screen component. What would you like to add to your Cougar?

In the rearview mirror line. There is temp and direction readouts that toggle like my old silverado.

The integrated backup camera is also a nice feature.

If there was anyway to get a blind spot warning, that would be VERY useful.

Seat heaters maybe! I also think it would be nice to have the headlight switch in the turn signal arm.

I’m old school. The only thing my newer cars have that I’d love to have on my Cougar is 28 MPG.

When I was in high school the thing I wanted the most was power widows. I thought the car looked so much better with the windows down when I was cruising, but I had to get out to roll down the passenger side rear window. But when I had a date they didn’t care about how cool the car looked they wanted AC to keep their hair from getting messed up.

Nothing. You want modern convenience, buy a modern vehicle.

FM radio

I get that. I like driving my ā€˜65 Ranchero because it has exactly zero power assists. You don’t exactly ride in it you operate it. It has more in common with my tractor than it does to modern cars. On the other hand I wish the radio worked….

xr8g428: We had a Prius with the screen in the mirror, 2013. It crapped out 1/2 way through the life of the car - I’d say it’s just one more thing to go awry. I’d stick with a ā€œseparateā€ screen.

I’d settle for 18mpg.

Whenever I drive one of the ā€œotherā€ more modern cars I am so impressed with the ā€œtightnessā€ and smoothness of the drive - even the 20 year old Vibe. Sometimes I think I’d like to have the Cougar like that, but then reality hits, and I realize that the ā€œrawnessā€ has its own satisfaction.

Heated seats are nice, but it’s a moot point because I don’t drive old cars in the winter.

AC that works like a modern car. That’s it. I’m old. Black interior does NOT help.

67 gt….sanden compressor…r12 refridgerant, rebuilt ac box , a bunch of dyna mat, bubble mat in the headliner, freeze ya out in arizona summer

Are you even allowed to say ā€œfreezeā€ and ā€œArizonaā€ in the same sentence? I will bookmark the suggestion though.

CUP HOLDERS! seriously sucks to drive a manual without a cupholder!

I have done a few things that modern vehicles have. EFI, dash gauges, electric steering, electric fans come to mind. I did those to update overall driving experience and I guess to give it a more modern feel. I have future suspension upgrades planned too to improve there as well.

As far as interior I would like to add a mirror with courtesy lights, custom center console that fits a modern screen/stereo to control the efi, backup camera etc and the most important thing CUP HOLDERS!

If I had an endless budget I would have a full blown restromod with completely modern drivetrain and chassis to get best of both worlds. Classic looks and modern performance.

Cruise control. I like long road trips but my throttle leg cramps up.
