Mopauly has requested that all of his comments be deleted. He has apparently decided to create his own forum and move on. This will create some odd threads here. I will try to clean that up as they arise.
Can you just “rename” the user so they’re no longer attributed to him?
Interesting. He certainly was a prolific poster. I run a 30k member cougar Facebook group and appreciate new content and engagement. However I also like to stick to relevant Cougar content, of which there’s probably only so much of on a given day.
Thanks for the update Bill and, again, thanks for all of the hard work and time you put into our community.

I did ask him to let me know what the problem was and he would not respond.
Huh. If I had to guess, I would say lack of engagement by the rest of the community.
He was very enthusiastic ~ which was awesome! But it seemed like many of his posts just didn’t generate any conversation.
Sorry to see him go. Not sure why he would want his posts deleted though. That part is what seems odd to me. Probably felt like he was being ignored :-/
Most of his Cougar related posts generated good responses and discussion. I wonder if he might have taken those comments personally about having to scroll through too much irrelevant non-Cougar content under The State of the Hobby thread. There was also a suggestion somewhere that car for sale posts be placed under the Marketplace topic. But all of these comments were relevant, respectful, and constructive.
Hopefully his new forum will be a better venue for him to help spread the blue oval love with more Ford content. This was probably not the right place for what he was wanting to do with that. But he was definitely an enthusiastic Cougar owner. Sorry to see him go.
Shame. We all have our own unique and varying levels of enthusiasm and annoying behaviors, but I would hope the Cougar community welcomes pretty much any cat nut, young or old.
I understand people wanting to leave a discussion forum. Why he requested his threads be deleted and why you feel you need to do that is something I don’t understand.
Agree I hate that. Its the last ditch effort for attention. Personally I would leave them as not to put holes in current threads. No problem with someone choosing to leave but they should not be able to take their posts with them.
Not sure what his deal was, he did post alot of youtube video links on anything cougar, would never seem to get too much discussion from them but personally Im just not one to sit and watch all the videos for entertainment purpose then make a comment about it. Maybe he felt a lack of engagement.
I would have to believe that is the crux of it. Some (of us) come to reap as much knowledge and experienced advice as possible; some (of you) come to provide it; some (of them) just “long to belong” and thrive on the social aspect - that probably isn’t real strong on this forum; which is NOT a negative comment. YouTube and FB might be more engaging.
Definitely had enthusiasm. Knowing his penchant for prolific posting, when I found random hopefully interesting classic Cougar content I’d DM him with it, but he hardly never took it up. With a little more Cougar focus could definitely be an asset.
One user’s pique is insufficient reason to degrade the integrity of the forum.
In the 15 years of the forum this is the first time we have someone request that everything be deleted. The only reason I posted this thread was to explain the holes that this will leave. The truth is that i had received complaints about the plethora of non Cougar oriented content. However he almost always posted in the correct forum for that sort of content. I have defended his posts because there is latitude in what people want from the forum. I had seen some of the videos before but it didn’t hurt to see them again. While it is not yet legally required in the USA in other countries your request to remove your posts is legally binding.
In any event I hope he gets his car out of the shop soon. This could be a serious case of Cougar withdrawal.
If he felt he wasn’t getting the wanted engagement from his posts it should have told him to post something different.
I liked the Cougar videos he posted. I had seen several before, but I’m sure many others had not. I also didn’t engage with the video posts, but I rarely do, unless it falls right into some of my specific Cougar niches.
I feel bad, because we really do need more enthusiasm, as most of us are 50 years of age, and older.
Guys…there was once a thriving community near here and once the families left and there were no children making noise it turned into a—guess what? Yes, an old folks community….
I feel he wanted this place to thrive. He was a member here that left for a reason. I thought he did it respectfully.
Mopauly wasn’t a young person, so I’m not sure that’s totally analogous. Asking for your posts to be deleted is like tearing up your pictures and letters after a breakup. Not sure what happened there. I don’t think anyone had anything against him, and he’d be welcome back. Guarantee he’s reading this thread now.
Wish the guy the best and that his new platform is what he’s been looking for. When spring comes and he gets behind the wheel of his Cougar again perhaps that will help with where he’s at.
From what I’ve seen so far, this forum appeals to a large segment for its technical content and not just random posts in an attempt to illicit social activity. I typically use it to solve / share on issues I’m having or read up on how individuals are modifying / restoring their cars. This forum is really an encyclopedia of knowledge from the grey beards that is of most value (to me).
In Mopauly’s case, a majority of his content may not have appealed to a large segment, but enjoyed by some. As a result, this lack of engagement appears to have been felt in a negative manner. I hope he can find the proper platform for whatever he’s seeking. Unfortunately, I’ve already seen him making a snide comment in another forum against the CCOA group with an apparent grudge.
From a social side, I hope to see some of you in the upcoming national car events. I’m hoping to attend Carlisle in 2027 for the 60th anniversary, Fords Forever out in California, etc.
I don’t understand asking ADMIN to delete all his posts, seems like wasting someone else’s time. Also, from off the top of my head some of his stuff was “public domain” , video’s, cars for sale etc. If he posted some of his own copy righted he should be able to edit his own posts to remove it.
Feels like a little tantrum to me.
