5.0L Coyote

Thinking about putting one in my car, who’s done it?

Thanks, Michael

Check Modified Mustangs and Fords, have seen at least a few there. Shock towers have to go.

They were “on sale” at Carlisle for $6995 delivered. No I did not buy one.

Thanks guys. Yeah I figured the shock towers had to go.

Michael

Hey Michael,

I’m in the middle of a coyote cougar restomod project for my 1968 Cougar XR-7. This is my first car, and I bought it in 1985 for $350. It’s come a long way since 1985, and since the motor/tranny were not numbers matching I decided to restore it as a a restomod. I have attached a couple of pictures, and I’ll post more of a how to later. Bob Lorenz from R&R restorations (http://rrrestorations.com) is overseeing the restoration, and can answer more of the technical questions. The suspension is from Total Cost involved, and the Coyote Crate motor and Tremec T56 6 speed transmission are from Ford racing.

And yes, we had to remove the shock towers.

Total Cost Involved has been a great resource for the project. They published a how to pdf document to support their custom front suspension swap. Let me know if you want a copy, and I’ll email it because it’s too big to attach.

I have no experience with the Coyote motor… But I do have to say that your car looks sweet with that motor in there…

Brian

John welcome to the Classic Cougar Community. That’s a fine looking Cougar that you have. That engine looks massive in the engine bay.

Thanks Steven,

Yes, it takes up so much of the engine bay, we had to run individual brake cylinders, and mount two to the inner fender, and two inside the trunk.

John

Wow…that’s all I have to say about that.

Thanks John, I’ve sent you a PM with my email address too. Your car looks GREAT!!

Michael

Is it for sale???

No, sorry, it’s not for sale. As my first car, the memories are priceless, and this cougar will be making more family memories for generations to come.

Dang that looks cool in there! And you know the car is going to go like stink!

Thanks Gary, but nothing compares to a GTE or R-code.

Some kitties are a little heavier than others. Fat Cats need love, too!

Love that color (wonder why). My boss has a 2014 5.0 in his pickup, and even though he is at a 100 horse defecit compared to the 'stang engine, I was VERY impressed with how well it pulls that truck. Can’t wait to hear how well your cat runs.

LOL Leon! 408C stroker baby! :smoke:

Good morning. I am currently building a 1968 cougar with tci front and rear and ford pcm6 coyote with tremec 6 speed. I am just about ready to install the engine and transmission, but I need a cross member for my tranny. Thinking of the stangaholics cross member that fits on original steel hoop frame already in transmission tunnel floor area… any help to locate a part that you used or indicate this would work would be greatly appreciated.
