70 xr-7 resurrection

Looks great! Keep going

Looks fantastic!

Absolutely amazing! Your attention to detail and getting it all is fantastic. As mentioned in one of the posts, its one lucky cat to have a saviour. It is much the same as mine, 70 XR7 Convert, extreme cancer survivor, except I cant take credit for the work, my friend and his shop have done all the surgery and reconstruction, you sir are an amazing tradesman! I look forward to seeing / following your progress!

Rear end derusted, protected, painted, built, and installed. Painting drums tomorrow and then off the rotisserie! Dropping off short block at machinist tomorrow…

Well, it has three pedals now instead of two! And the dash has been painted…no longer green

Finally got the dash and harness fully installed. Also got the steering column in hooked up to borgeson gear. Also go the master cylinder on and brakes bled…still waiting on the block so I can assemble the engine

Interested in the valve covers that will fit those rockers. I couldn’t use stock on my Cleveland.

I plan on using extensions

Not sure about a Cleveland, but for a small block and big block using tie bar roller lifters…your tie bars are facing the wrong way

Good pick up. I confirmed with Kevin, technical support at Schneider Racing Cams (the cam, roller rocker, lifter supplier) that the tie bars are supposed to be on the valley side (like in your photo), but he tells me that unless they’re making contact (which would have known immediately), it won’t matter.

The engine was built at the shop that held my car for four years, so this is just the latest problem. It’s at the different shop now getting EFI, Borgeson, headers etc., so I’m going to ask to have them check it out. If the shop put the tie bars on backwards, it doesn’t lend confidence to the rest of the engine build.

I hadn’t thought of that. I could get these and return closer to the stock appearance.

Finally spent the money and ordered the tkx, clutch, and mid length headers for better ground clearance. Hopefully running in March. Plan to drive it to Carlisle in whatever condition it’s in….

Which headers be those?
