Fordblue's 67 Coupe:

Thanks,

Like I commented in the video, it’s just means all the cylinders are worn equally. The car still has a ton of blow by to the point where if I hook up the PCV and the breather hose to the air cleaner, the idle slows down and the carb goes out of tune.

I figure that the air/fuel mix leaking past the rings will help de-sludge the engine as long as I keep on top of the oil changes, lol.

Still in NY for work. Here until mid May, maybe later. The bank account loves it though, working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on union pay.

Emailed WCCC tonight to see about the 67 Grille Rebuilt Kit. That will be waiting for me when I get home, and possibly a Ford Racing crate engine. Nothing fancy, just the cheapest 340HP 302 build from a stock block.

That of course will warrant a new limited slip center section in the rear…

I really need to stop getting online and “browsing” things I don’t really need, but have to have.

Sounds like the long hours and hard work will be paying off for your Cougar. The crate 302 should work good. What transmission will you use?
Steven

The C4 that I detailed the rebuild on in this thread. I put all the heavy duty parts in it when I went through it.

Another local guy, Would love to meet you see the 67 at a local cruise in. SalD

Where abouts do they have a cruise in around the area?

They are around the area, last saturday was at the Pit Stop on Jefferson Hwy, This Saturday night will be on Williams in Kenner. I live on WestBank and there is a Show this Saturday at the BoomTown Casino. SalD I’ll PM you

Fordblue, really we need to talk about that Ford crate motor… Got one sitting on a engine stand in my garage, along with every thing you need to put it into a Cougar.

I could have sworn you had sent me a PM with the details of what you had with that engine, but I can’t find it. Could you send one again? Having a warranty with the engine is a big selling point for me, that is why I finally decided on buying a crate engine instead of building my own.

A few more paychecks in the bank to pad the savings, then this bad boy will be mine!!!

Or you could go this route… More power, better everything, less money, and fuel injection.

Damn Bill, why don’t you throw that thing in a crate and send it to me?

My thoughts exactly…

didn’t you offer it in mc.net a while back?

How much $$ (mine ain’t broken…but.) i’d still like to know

sweet, that sure beats the old 289.

Finally home again, and slowly going through the boxes that have accumulated at my buddy’s house as I have been ordering things.

I did paint the kick panels from WCCC that come with the speakers installed. I removed the speakers and painted them with the parchment paint that comes from WCCC as well. Here is the progress:

One before and one after:

And the after with the grilles painted as well:

Now onto install…

The finished product on the passenger side.

The kick panels need trimming of the edge along the floor and firewall to fit right with the carpet and padding. The drivers side is still a work in progress.

Good to see you home and making progress. Kick plates also look good. Was noticing your under dash is that a repaint or can it just be cleaned up? SalD

Going to take the steel wool to it and see how it cleans up. I’ll do that when I put the new glove box in.
Today seems like a good day for that since lawn care is postponed by rain.

Looks sharp! I have the same kick panels. Also got the sems paint from WCCC too. I am thinking of spraying them when I do the console to tone down the gloss and make them blend more.
