Hellooooo, CCCF!!

Yes, it was from the wife’s cousin(Cuz Stang), and his dad(Uncle Stang, R.I.P.). I’ve already given Cuz a ration of poop on “warranty”…LOL. He’d had that engine in his 65 fastback for quite a while, until he found a W crate he couldn’t pass up. So, then it sat for “some time”, before I expressed an interest in it.

Working on the “further investigation”…going to yank it the rest of the way out tomorrow night. I KNOW the crank is beat to hell. I can see it, just can’t get a good pic. The block is well-shattered around the criminal piston…how much so, well…there’s lots of pieces. Wondering what kind of cracking might be found in it if it were magged.

I’m really kind of leaning towards taking the opportunity to do it the way I wanted the first time around. But, Uncle Stang got diagnosed with the C, and I went into “get it done quick” mode, so he’d get to see it done, as his outlook was not good.

Regardless, I got my money’s worth out of it. However, I am STILL peeved that it let go just cruising, rather than while doing something spectacularly stupid/crazy/fun.

What about the Cleveland I remember it came with?? Now granted I am a little partial, but that would not be a bad way to go! Hell, I have real nice 357C with all the good stuff and less than 6K miles on it that I just took out and replaced with my 408C. Probably not practical, I would want too much money for it to make it attractive for you.

LMFAO - I’m WFH today, and my 9 y/o old daughter walked by on her way out the door and said “What’s with the creepy clown”?

In case you didn’t know, it’s “Oogie” from Uncle Floyd fame.

Good lord, you people and your memories…how the heck you remembered the Cleve…:headshake:

Sadly, the C that was in partial swap mode when I bought the car was donated to a friends/coworkers cause(same friend/coworker that towed my busted arse hoopty back to our workplace last Friday, for that matter…Karma…). I asked him if he happened to still have it, but nope.

As far as your 357C…yeah, it would probably be a nice one, but I think I’ll stick with the W’s. (wish I had a W code sitting around!)…

I’ll get her going again, eventually, though I’m sorta kinda wishing that tookfwit had followed through and bought the barstid now!

Umm, yeah…doesn’t make it any less creepy…

Yeah, that guy would be on your doorstep right now, wondering it blowed up. :astonished:

You SHOULD go with the Cleveland though. Bob’s old engine was so good, he pulled it out and built himself up a whole 'nother, slightly bigger one.

What is what Annie Wilkes calls all things that are gross and slimy, Alex…

ROFL, good point. He was flaky enough without having to deal with him on a blowed up engine.

ROFL2, “pulled and built a whole nuther…”…

The 357C is no slouch by any means, it’s a 13 second engine in a 4000 lb car. The 408C is just because, because I have disposable income and because I can. I am happiest when I am involved in a big project. The 408C was an enjoyable one and the fun is just beginning. I fully expect to get kicked off the track with this one.

Ok Daddy Warbucks have fun with that.

Before this get’s too derailed…

How’s about a “mock Boss” Clevor??? Hmmmm…

Ya, no…you’d get kicked off the track.  :unamused:

Never mind, I just looked at what all was involved. I’d have an engine that matched T1’s car! :frankenstein:

Methinks I found myself a solid donor car, with a 351W…

Cool car. I think you would be better off getting a later model roller block out of a truck or Bronco.

With that suggestion in mind, I went and perused the pick n pull whilst at lunch just now. They have TWO '93 Cougars with 5.0’s…suitable EFI donors?

(obviously with a teardown/rehab/refresh, etc)

Niiice.

So I got ye ole block out last night…

Trail of tears…

Chunks missing from block and piston…

D90E block…'69 or '79?
