How fast is your cat

Many years ago, I won second place in the Garden State Regional Mustang Club (GSRMC) Englishtown bracket racing outing (in my '94 Mustang GT (5 speed) convertible). Only lost the final because I red-lighted. I drove it balls to the walls every run. Chris in his R code (automatic) was eliminated earlier in the competition. So perhaps a bit of a difference in opinion there on driving style and repeatability/consistency. But, I’d agree that anything you can do the same way multiple times would help in bracket racing (my interpretation of what was said).

I think you misremember. That time you speak of (~15 years ago?), I was driving my '99 Volvo wagon, and left (along with 2/3rds of the field) when the rain rolled in & they had a long delay.

I would never bracket race the R Code, it’s a concours restoration. I’ve only had it @ the track 2x (6 passes total), and just for “test & tune” purposes: 4 passes the 1st time (on drag radials - and you were there, along with Mercinary) & 2 passes the next time (on bias plys).

Maybe I am misremembering about your car (but I don’t think so), but not my own and what happened for me at the event. I am pretty sure it was you that got me to go to the GSRMC event and yeah, I think Mercinary was there. It was not a test and tune event. It was around 2006, I have the trophy at home, there was no rain that I recall. But, I am turning 58 next month and my memory is not as reliable as it once was!

I checked with my buddy Tom (who remembers everything), and I think I was morphing two GSRMC events into one. The 1st time (post-restoration) I had the R Code @ the track (E-town) was a GSRMC event where I invited the CCNJ-PA guys as well. I think Rick P was there in his aqua '69 (Suds owns the car now) & you had the Mustang. My crew was my sons (6 & 4 y/o @ the time), my father-in-law & my buddy Tom. I ran 4 times in the car (got a bit quicker each time w/a best of 14.2), packed up & split before the bracket-style eliminations began. I seem to remember hearing that you stayed & did well (you might have even posted to mc.net about it).

The thing is: you stated that I was eliminated from bracket racing in the R Code, and attempted to draw some half-assed conclusion about driving styles & repeatability. That is 100% bunk & you should own up to that.

Yes, that sounds correct! So you were there, at the event I described and not a test and tune, with the R Code and not your parents Volvo (and you should own up to that).

As for the latter comment, sorry I misremembered you being eliminated, I apologize. There is no need for you to be a jerk about it.

I knew I would regret reading and/or responding to your (ignored) posts. I will not make that mistake again.

Heh, heh, two old farts misremembering things. Shocking.

Other:

  • I never said I wasn’t there.
  • Likewise, I never said it was a test & tune event, but that I was there for test & tune purposes.
  • I must have taken the Volvo wagon the year before, '05, and I already said that I was likely morphing the two GSRMC event into one. So what is it you want me to own up to?
  • My parents died in '02 & '03, respectively. Thanks anyway for bringing them into this.
  • You made an inaccurate statement, and in your special, passive-aggressive way disparaged my bracket racing skillz, but I’M the jerk? :unamused:
  • Apology accepted.

We are all not too far away from forgetting how to brush our teeth. With any luck at all the stories are going to get better over time.

Yeah, I hear you Bill! With any luck maybe some people’s fondness for getting their underwear all bunched up where I am concerned will wane as well. We can always hope anyway…

My hearing aid is dandy
My glasses are just fine
My false teeth come in handy
But I sure do miss my mind

Aaagh. The ravages of time … sort of like rust on a car that one time lived in Minneapolis / St Paul

Funny that you paint yourself as the victim here.

YOU make a false statement about ME in a post. I called you out on it, and your response is to apologize (but then call me a jerk).

Then you wonder why “some people” think you’re an A hole? Really?

Stay in your lane.

P.S. Bill, as I have said before, the ignore feature works very well. It’s like the Zika virus mosquitoes are not even here! Thank you.

Isn’t there an old saying, “the older I get the faster I was?”

My dogs are pretty happy about the whole CRS issue. I am sure I fed them twice tonight… On the other hand, I am sure that this really is my first beer.

I certainly hope so…

Doctor, doctor - why is that suppository behind your ear

Oh poop. Some a-hole’s got my pen

LOL, love it!

LOL again!

Well, i’ve heard of but dialing, but this could be a whole new thing.

With all of you old guys the only excuse I can cop to is…what’s that? Ah shucks! I forgot where I left my Ginkgo Biloba. Peace out.

Hey wait a minute, I was enjoying my popcorn on this thread, describe “old”! Lol!!
