Wait …I’m not dead yet
It’s just nice to not be the resident “old guy”. I was the “old guy” at the motorcycle shop when I did tech work (at 33. Go figure), in most of the bands I’ve played in recently, and at work. So when I hear guys saying they can practically hide their own Easter eggs, I have to rub it in.
Now THAT I get and respect as well. Seeing how fast, and WHO is the fastest is my idea of fun.
I had 69 351 hardtop with 351W .030 over, 10:1
Performer RPM cam and intake
Demon 650 dp
World Product Windsor Sr heads intake and exhaust matched
AOD with 2800 stall converter
4.11 gears
Hoosier Quick Time Pros
MSD Street Billet distributor and 6AL box
The car dynoed at almost 400hp, 375fp
Best ET was 13.20 at 103 Englishtown, NJ
HAH !! nothing like resurrecting an old thread!! ![]()
That car was the real deal. Have you tried to buy it back from Suds?
The short version…he offered it back to me for even money when he was selling it to buy a Cobra kit car. At that time, the Mustang still wasn’t running right - so I didn’t know then that I wouldn’t like driving the Mustang. He Ebayed it and it went to Germany, so slim to none change of seeing it again !
My car is fast, took my credit card balance from zero to “don’t tell the wife” in the blink of an eye!
That’s FAST! I won’t tell the wife… ![]()
I’m on the slow side. 11.20 @ 127. I have a snake, not a cat. Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!

Nice
Isabel went 12.9 @110 MPH, 4150 lbs with me in it, 408C, TKO-600 and 3.25 rear gears. Then Englishtown’s Raceway Park shut down drag racing forever. ![]()
What number snake? I have 1482 and 2354
I have 171.
Old? You want an “old guy” to beat your arse? LOL
Mine does 0 to 60 in about 7 or 8 seconds. It’s hampered by excessive wheel spin and the open 8" rear with 3 to 1 gears. At speeds of 15 miles per hour, the wheels will still chirp but not break out unless you’re turning or it’s wet.
It’s far from the fastest out there & I’m ok with that. It’s much rather get it running smooth, which means I need an Edelbrock 500 cfm AVS2 carb instead of what I have now.
According to the seller, it has GT40 heads, roller cam and makes close to 300 horsepower. I haven’t confirmed that but from how it runs and behaves, that seems believable. To get that number, the carb is way excessively to large for the engine & all the power is at the top end or when your floor it.
Yes, it’s totally reliable being a rebuild with solid electricals etc, but might even just go full out and get fuel injection. I don’t really care if I lose 30 horsepower or so. It’s much rather have better drivability.
As much as I love how my '70 runs and drives with the 4v Holly and manifold, 2.5" duals, and 3.50 gear upgrades, I’d still have to use that very Texas saying of “all hat, no cattle” to describe overall performance. /s
What engine do you have in the 1970? The 351 Cleveland is usually the standard one, but some might have the 351 Windsor.
I wish these boards allowed for “thumbs ups” for people. That expression might be from Texas, but I think I might be using it a bit out here in Kansas in the near future! grin
