First time I have ever seen 100% thumbs up on a Cougar publication / feature. Usually there are several errors as the articles are never written or even proofed by a Cougar guy.
What do you know, I’m the 6.5 litre subscriber. I’m purposely not reading the online version completely so I can savor the experience of reading a paper magazine for the first time in years. But from what I saw in my first glance, let me just say, well done, guys. Well done. Especially the quality of the photos.
I forgot to mention that I love that the feature cars are not concours restored…well with the exception of Cougar 1. And, as a guy who has polished and waxed Cougar 1 for Jim, I smiled when looking at how beautiful the feature turned out.
Why oh why is there names without last names? Top secret spy stuff, afraid of the NSA, CIA, FBI, or afraid of fellow members actually knowing you really exist?
Bill, is there any way to save the file to my device? I would like to read it at work, but it requires a decent Internet connection, and that is something I have difficulty locating.
I would also like to archive it to read in the future, and since only US residents can get a hard copy, subscribing for the full package is not an option, at least at this point. Do you have any suggestions?
Right, some ner do well, a villain like Boris Badenoff (sp), will visit the Cougar site, pay for a subscription, or the mag, just so he can hack into the Cougar world, and play havoc with your life. Are you that paranoid?
What happens to every guy in every car mag, that gets profiled along with his car, they mention his full name, and where he lives.
Every hear of any horror stories because of that??
Cobrasc427, What is your point? The list is a thank you to the people that supported the magazine. Nothing more, nothing less. Are you a subscriber? Would you like to have had you full name listed? If so let me know and I will run it in the next issue.
Fordnutz, it is an online publication that is actually running on our server. It outputs as a series of fairly light weight jpegs. (about 150KB per page.) To run the file on your device it would require you to run our software as well and we don’t support it for individual applications. You can save or print individual pages. It will run on even a dial up connection loading pages in just a few seconds typically. Unless you have java script blocked I am not sure why it is not loading well for you. We are considering an iPad ap if the demand is sufficient so that might be another possibility.
My point is that it would be nice to know what a person’s name is, since we have a location and a first name. Might make for improved communication btw fellow owners, kind of a way to meet new fiends.
As an example, Jim from Tulsa, boy that narrows it down a whole lot.
Yes I am, and yes you can list my full name. Jeff Willets, Toledo Ohio. If you want, give out my car info too.
From what I’ve learned over the past few years, Cougar owners are paranoid, about INFO getting out who they are, and what they own. Somebody will attempt to clone their car.
Well the only way to protect your car is to have a registry that list’s your name, your city and state and your VIN. With a history going as far back as possible. The written word is your insurance. Just like the Cobra and Shelby’s, there have been registries for close to 40 years, with new additions coming out occasionally. All with updated info.
It’s near impossible to fake one, with everything documented, but, never mind. I’ve stated the facts.
Honestly, I noticed/was surprised too when I only saw the last letter of my last name, a little disappointed actually. I figured (incorrectly) that it was a space limitation or something. Having said that, it was not a big deal, at least to me, but I would have rather seen my full name.
Speaking of paranoid, when are you going to list your location, car and some other info Jeff? Sorry… Could not help it. Ring us one of these days, have not heard from you for a while!
Okay Jeff, I get it now. Good point, but I wasn’t thinking about it in those terms at all. We published the names to say thanks to the folks, like yourself, brought us to dance. I am reluctant to use some ones name without their permission in a commercial sort of way. We had publicized that we would create the list, but we had not specifically obtained permission to use their name in what some might see as an advertisement. No one asked me specifically to withhold their name. I am more than happy to list full names as it genuinely is a gesture of appreciation.
Which brings me to this. Years ago, I was active in a different car club and they had a booklet called Friends of the Marque. You could list your name and contact information as well as what kind of spares or assistance you could offer a fellow club member in need. It was a glove box sized book that was a good thing to have if you were driving cross country and needed some help or even a recommendation for a good place to eat. Maybe we should offer something like that to the Cougar Community?
