Repro Dealership License Frames

Thank you!!!

Love the Nixon-Agnew sticker, like a time warp!

Here is the original sticker off the back of my 70 Eliminator.

I have yet to sell and single one of these frame pairs I had made! https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/17768/31871/license-plate-frames-pair-chrome-san-jose-dealer-1967-1973-mercury-cougar.html

Don, I found an actual period frame for Village Lincoln-Mercury, San Carlos CA, my car’s selling dealership. I put it on for the few shows I go to!

List them on eBay, they’ll sell.

Random question…will the Marti report list the original dealer? if not how would one go about finding this info? MY aunt who gave me my 70 Cougar in 1986 was a California girl. She passed away at 98 years old so I have no one to ask!

Usually the reports do. But some are unknown. Or at least that was years ago I saw a couple that he did not know t h e P&A codes to.

Since Kevin obtained the invoices from Lois he normally provides dealership information on any Deluxe report. Most of the blanks were prior to him having the invoices.

You will have to order at least a Deluxe report to obtain the dealer information.

He probably also has the number 2 copy of your invoice available.

My Marti Report shows the dealer that sold the car, Bruce Crary, San Gabriel, CA. The repro window sticker and factory build sheet both show the original ordering dealer that took delivery, Murphy L-M, Long Beach, CA.

Interesting. Dealers today often trade stock with other dealerships when a customer wants something that’s not on their lot. Wonder if they did that 50 years ago…?

That was my guess. Build was 12/16/68 and sale wasn’t until 5/9/69, so she sat or may have been a demo.

That has been done for a long time. Ginger was ordered by Kline Motors in Everett WA but sold through Harris Ford in Lynnwood WA. When I talked to the Original owner he said he placed an order for one almost like this one, It did not have the rear window defogger. They installed one to make it what he was looking for.

Our 69 was sold at Stanford L-M in Menlo Park, CA. I found this one license plate frame on eBay and it is in pretty ratty shape. I always look when I am at swap meets and junk yards to see if I can find a second one or a better one. I would be very interested in a new/reproduction set. When the car was bought from the previous owner who lived in San Mateo, CA, it had this cool AAA sticker, which I think is awesome, in the side rear window. Since moving to Idaho, the weather has cracked the sticker. I would love to get a new one of these too.

Here is your guy for repro license frames. He does really nice work!

Man I would love to find a Cal Worthington one.

He was cool

For that one, you might have to go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal.

Dang-He was the best. Tigers, Lions, elephants in his commercials. And an American Hero!!!

Cal Worthington and his dog Spot. Spot was never, ever a dog. Every other animal, just not a dog. He flooded Saturday morning and afternoon TV with his commercials.
