Is there an electric steering kit for a '67 Cougar XR7 with Tilt away?
I think most would work as you have the modify the lower section of the column only. Look at EPAS performance.
However I would not cut into a tilt away column, I think you would be better off using a aftermarket tilt column or finding a fixed stock column and modifying that instead.
I have seen a number of install videos for the EPAS system - have a look at this one:
You’ll have to decide if there is even room under the dash for the EPAS system + the tilt-away steering components ( if that is your intent - to retain the tilt-away feature while adding EPAS ).
I’m in agreement with DieselD - retaining / saving the original tilt-away column would be advisable ( and using a ‘donor’ non-tilt column if you want to go the EPAS route ).
Here is a link to a member who has done this addition ( merging a 1967 and a 1968 to achieve this goal ):
Epas performance sells a precut ididit tilt column and I agree…don’t hack a stock tilt column
Tony Augustine has done a tilt - away with EPAS system. I think if you want one you will have to pay Tony to make one.
